There are varying degrees of SDA doctrine, just like there are varying degrees of all Christian denominations.
Some SDA's eat some meat, others eat none. None of them eat pork because of two reasons.
1. They believe that some kosher laws in the OT Covenant apply to Gentile Christians today.
2. They believe in revelations received from Ellen White, a prophetess that claimed to have visions telling them to return to the covenant, and that it was restored in 1844, when the Millerites were wrong about the return of Jesus.
Basically, Seventh Day Adventists, choose specific laws from the covenant in Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers and claim they are still valid. They also reject laws in the covenant and ignore them, like Numbers 5.
Its tough to maintain that the Covenant is still active and then explain why you no longer stone family members who aren't Christian. There is no way to discern what covenant laws should be followed an which ones should be rejected, especially when your prophetess plagiarized most of her 'revelations' from Sunday keepers, then claimed they were visions.
Ex SDA, obviously.

It is considered unclean in the Bible. And my family were seventh day adventists, they don't eat pork and its not because of their religion it is the way they were raised and they are not vegetarians. I dont have religion and I do not see a problem with eating pork, I just don't eat too much of it..

Many do not eat meat at all. Some people take the stance that animals do not have to die for us to eat, so why kill them? Being vegan is also good for the environment; there are many factors involved in the factory farming process that pollute. I've never been a SDA, but I have studied it before.

They also believe that Saturday is the true Sabbath day... if comes from readings of the old Testament and applying it to today... it is much the same as Jewish Kosher foods. They also promote total abstinence from meat and push a vegetarian diet... In fact Kellogg invented his breakfast food for this reason.
Cool: a thumbs down for a factually correct neutral posting.... will wonders never cease?

There are 306 Commandments that the Jewish were given. And in those 306 Commandments are instructions on certain foods to eat and not to eat and that IF they stuck to them they would not get sick. So they are hoping to stay healthy.
Unfortunately many would not do as they had been ordered by God and got sick.

The Scripture is our guide for faith and practice. Read leviticus. The Messiah did not come to do away with the law. We are not saved by keeping the law,(we cannot earn salvation) but we are saved so we can obey. Not so we can disobey.

Pork is made out of pig. Do I have to tell you that?
Moreover, pigs are related to swine. Eating pork is tantamount to eating swine.
Swine have been known to associate with hogs. Perhaps now you can begin to see the connections here.
