You, me and millions of others go or have gone through the same scenerio.
When you have financial obligations, you cannot stay with that job you love, because you cannot afford to live on a job you love, but a job that provides you with the salary to survive and that is the unfortunate heartache we all go though.
So unless you want and are able to alter your lifestyle where you can afford to live on the salary of the job that you love, then you may have to look for another job and hopefully it will be open that you like as well.
I actually QUIT a job where I was making GREAT MONEY $$$$$, because I hated the job and hated the people I had to work with and actually started working almost for minimum wage for a long time and had to alter my expenses and lifestyle in order to survive. Strangely enough, I liked those lesser paying jobs, but finally had to find a job for more money in order to survive in today's economy and inflation and have a job that gave me medical care and other benefits. Of course, that job I have now...I hate, but can't find another job to replace the salary and benefits I'm getting now and can't afford to take a lesser salary.

Is there room for advancement in the company? If there is then you should discuss with your supervisor what you need to do to get a better paying position and how long it will take.
You should also consider getting a part time job to make extra money until you can make better money with this job.
If those two things are not possible and you really cannot live on the money you make then you have no other choice but to get a different job.

Since it is your first job there are several good things to look at as well.
Since you are passionate about it put your efforts into things that can improve your position:
Continue to motivate and personally develop yourself, show up a few minutes early each day and find out a different aspect about your job (be a trend setter), look for opportunities for advancement also. Continued education (either for Education, skills, Library, or bookstore).
If you really want to continue to work there, look at passive income opportunities:
Real Estate - Lease Option, Purchasing Mortgages 15-20% ROR)
Home Business- Stage 3 Business, Network Marketing, Corporate Cleaning Franchise where you earn $15-$40.
On a personal Note- I recently listened to a very motivating story of a man who went from $9 per hour to over $100,000 in 7 years. The skies is the limit, you have plenty of options as long as you are passsionate about what you are doing you can find all kind of creative ways to earn money.

I know the feeling. I am in the same boat but worse. I can't even afford a place to live. I think you should find another job that pays better , that's what I am going to do.

You can ask for a raise. You can look for a similar job with a different company. Or you can try to figure out how to live with it.
