It may be pica. Here is a website about it... And take her to a doctor to get her blood nutrient levels checked.

The person who smokes, shouldn't do it in the same house where a child lives.

Firstly, try asking them not to smoke.
Try asking them to remove their cigarette ash when they've finished.
Tell them what's happening and ask them to please help you to prevent it as its unhealthy for your child.

Most normal responsible adults will be mortified to discover that something they do is harming a child. Try to have the conversation that you need to really have with them. After all, its not just your child thats at risk, its you too. Secondary smoking is bad for your health. The law says so. You have a right not to breathe someone else's smoke.

We don't allow anyone to smoke anywhere near the children. But its a struggle to get them to see that even one cigarette is harmful. Family members are the most difficult to tackle.

See if you can change the situation for the better. Good luck!

If it's your child in your house, you most certainly can stop someone from smoking around her. Be a responsible parent and put an end to the indoor smoking.

How about not smoking anywhere near the child for starters. Does the child display any other unusual eating habits? Could be pica as Betsy said or it could just be curiosity and trying to copy adult behavior.

spray water at her? i thought she was a child not a cat..please.

make whoever is smoking smoke outside or keep their ashtrays put up and cleaned up. most kids will play in an ashtray if they find it and yes with a small child it always ends up in their mouth.(gross)

no one smokes in my home full time but when mom comes over she sometimes smokes i have one ashtray and it has a lid on it..its sort of like a cup with a lid with a hole in it for butts, kids cant get in it and when she leaves i empty it and wash it up for next trip. you can get those at the dollar store for about 2 bucks.

Well if you smoke, QUIT.
It's bad for the childs health anyway.
You can get help to stop smoking online.
OR- Don't stop smoking and throw your ashes in the bin outside or you can put them down the sink ?

You can control who smokes in your house. It's YOUR house.

Have them go outside or not smoke at all. Then, tell them to keep their mess put up.

You can control what they do, if it's harming your daughter which it is. Speak up for the sake of your daughter.
