How is it that we stray so much during the day. Our mind is like a sheep wandering here and there.. Touching the flesh.. touching the world.. just wandering all over. I was really appreciating that there is a shepherding One in our spirits. Our Lord Jesus. His sheep hear and know His voice. He bids us to come back to the green pasture and still waters of our spirit where He is.
2 Tim 4:22 says
" The Lord be with your spirit; Grace be with you"
I just love this verse.
He is near and dear to us.. but not always do we stay with Him.
Stay with Him when we are about to loose our temper.Or fall once again to our besetting sin. When we find ourselves being fashioned according to this age. So many things pulling and drawing us away from this Lord.
Please share of your day to day experiences of learning to " stay with the Lord' through all your day's ups and downs.
Romans 8:6
For the mind set on the flesh is death. But the mind set on the spirit is life and peace"

Tex.. just because you do not " get " should make you rude to me. This is a genuine question that is addressed to ones that understand where I am coming from. There are thousands of other questions that your contribution would be most appreciated and would match that particular concept. Feel free to make yours there. I don't know what kind of " mood" you are in today but please.. give others a chance to answer a question that makes sense to them.

Keeping the scriptures nearby, and in my heart is the only way that I can keep the world out. I carry my Bible with me everywhere I go. I work as a computer programmer, and so I have set up my screensaver to list verses on the screen so that others can see them as well.

Being in prayer at every possible moment; just thinking thoughts of conversation with my Lord and Savior keeps the thoughts of the world from having dominion or control of me.

Romans 6:6-23
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Grace and Peace!
Jim

the best thing that helps me most is this, Jesus spoke to me through Ezekiel He said I do not know backwards, which is our past. Because He tells you He is not in your past only Satan is, waiting to devour us. God only knows side to side and forwards and up. He also taught me that It dose not matter what I face or who I am facing it through, to always know that with laughter and singing and keeping my faith in His promises I will win no matter what, I sing how great thou are, and I read scripture daily and several times a day, sometimes even more, I pray constantly thanking Him through the good and the bad, I focus own Jesus and I recite the Lords prayer, over and over until i fill no stress. Gods speed to you, and always remember this Jesus loves you and never leaves you, we only leave Him, And when we do we are acceptable to anything and any evil body. Praying for Jerusalem brings you peace.

There are many things that I do trying to remind myself that if I'm to be a Christian it is a full time position.
I listen to Southern Gospel music at any opportunity.
I recite different scriptures to myself.
When I feel anger rising, I try to walk away.

Whenever anything threatens my peace of mind, I have to ask myself "Has God changed his mind about me?"
Then, I accept His decision, for it is indeed changeless.

I wrote this from my Course In Miracles book and I wrote it down and I keep it in my purse and read it every so often.
It helps me to remember that God is ultimately in charge and I am then able to re-look and re-think and thus re-see the situation with Love and Peace.

I think in this area prayer is the keys but also reelection of scripture as well. But I will admit that this happens to me more than I would really like to admit but I try to keep in mind that it is me that moves away Not God If I want to be in His presence it is up to me As He promises to never leave me. I want to be able to offer the same promise to Him, that I will never leave Him, I am working on that ! Good question sister Sandy!

Spiritual "breathing"
Breathe out the impure thoughts & actions (repentance)
Breathe in the power of the Holy Spirit by asking for the "fruit of the Spirit"... love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness & self-control

I will keep my answer short for this question - so that I can spare people for reading my long answers for a change. hehe :p

Whenever I fall short or make mistakes, lose my temper or whatever, I need to remind myself I am still the righteousness of God in Christ. This may sound like a formula, but I will say a Christian life isn't so much a formula as it is a living, dynamic relationship with our Lord Jesus.

So, I will go by His words and not by my own experiences or feelings. His words are true, everlasting and unchanging; my experiences and feelings are not. So, since Jesus' obedience at the cross has made me righteous, I am still right with God, no matter what I have done or not done. I will get up on my feet again and move on, thanking Jesus for His blood that makes me righteous. Will that make me want to sin more? No, that will make me want to live a glorious life for Jesus more and more - for when I will fall in love with Jesus, I will fall out of love with sin. His love will transform me from the inside out, from the heart.

Thanks for asking the question. Peace be with you, sister Sandy.

Sandy, For me this is a learning experience, over time. I had to learn to use my mind/imagination in a godly way. I picture myself in God's presence. I envision Him with me when I am doing my daily activities. I stop to speak to Him about things that are going on as they happen in my day.

I read a small, but valuable book, called "Practicing the Presence of God", by a monk, Brother Lawrence. He learned to open himself to the Spirit of God as he worked in the monestary kitchen. He spoke to God of things large and small, constantly bringing to himself the awareness of God in all things.

This book affected me deeply because it showed me that God wants fellowship with me at all times, not just when I go apart somewhere to spend time alone with Jesus. I talk to God when I drive my car, shop for groceries, write answers on Y/A.....There is no time I am not welcome to "check in" with my Heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit is constantly there with me as guide, tutor, mentor.

Each day I have a varied experience with the practice of awareness of God. I have grown thankful for some of my most difficult times. They taught me to go to God often during the day to touch bases with Him and gain His help or insight into what I face. It has blessed/built my faith to realize my welcomeness in God's presence at all times. I think many people falsely think they have to be "spiritual" when they talk to God/pray - speaking in religious ways or words they don't regularly use. It is very liberating to just talk to God as if He is in the room with me (which, of course, He is)! There are times I sense Jesus making remarks to me which are humorous, dry witted even. It is so good to bring prayer out of the lofty, religious realm and into where the day to day existence of life is. There are times to be poetic and frequent times to just be brief and real!!!

The more I concentrate on Him, the less I worry about myself and focus on my problems or failures. My Shepherd just gently steers me back where He wants me to go and together we just keep moving! This is a major part of the Christian life for me!

Again, ignore the rude ones, they are clueless. God calls them fools, anyone that wont believe in and obey God, but He tells us not to call them names, but to love and forgive them , and pray, which we all do. But, never allow them to affect how you look at anything. YOu are truly doing GOds work here child of God. God will bless you, while those not of God will always curse us.
IT means we are doing what God told us to do, as He told us this would be when we are truly of God. So God bless you.
THere is only one way to stay with the Lord during the day and nighttime too. No matter what we are doing, we must be thinking on God and the good things of GOD, the holy things, the pure things and then God will bless us and give us more wisdom, knowledge and discernment, more of all of the blessings WE must be sure we submit our will to Gods will daily, to pray during the day as often as possible, to study as much as possible, and to think on only the good things of God, saying What more can I do for you Lord, instead of always whinning and saying, How LIttle Do I HAve to Do for You Lord, to squeeze thru the gates..
God knows the heart, and tells us that only the pure of Heart will see Him.
Think on God and the things of God, stay in a state of unceasing prayer, and think on all the good and pure things of God, and have a constant attitude of thankfulness and grattitude towards God, while you continue to love ppl and forgive them, no matter how wicked they are. But, do remember, tho God calls us to love and forgive, God never calls us to be doormates to anyone. WE are to be strong warriors for Jesus Chrsit. We know how to battle evil in this world, thru the shed blood of Jesus Christ, thru the Holy Spirit given to us that are truly born again.
WE walk in no fear, no doubt, no compromise. Only the things of God matter to us, that are truly born again.
I was just called close minded and judgmental for saying that, but it is TRUTH, Gods truth, and that is all tha tmatters to any real Christian.
The person that insults us isnt the one that deceides who is saved and who isnt. Come on folks. LEt us make God smile more, and worry less about the ppl that arent of God at all.
I praise God for this obedient sister. God bless her to fullness and overflow.
