He shed His blood on the cross for the forgiveness and cleansing of sin. He died on the cross for the sins of His people. Christ died so that His people may have everlasting life through Him.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

The blood shed for the redemption of all mankind.
Gods perfect plan, poured out that grace may abound,
Shed to cover all sin, a garment of righteousness,
More precious than the air I breath,
More priceless than all the earth.
No greater gift, no higher price paid,
The spilt blood of Jesus, the light and of life men.

The bible says the life of the person is in the blood. It means he gave His life for us. And more than that, He suffered terrible pain to do that. That's why I love Him so much.
