The main event is No Limit Texas Hold Em. In fact, most of the events are no limit texas hold em events. However, they also have pot limit and limit texas hold em, omaha, omaha hi/lo, stud, stud hi/lo and 2-7 triple draw and horse.

They have every kind of poker imaginable on the poker tour and in the WSOP. The only game they show the idiot wannabes on television is no limit Texas holdem, leading many to believe that is what the WSOP is all about when it isn't. That's just one main event of many.

It depends on which even you were watching.
The most televised is the Texas Hold Em. In that game, each player is dealt two cards face down, round of betting, 3 community cards flopped up in the middle of the table, round of betting, 4th community carded flopped up, round of betting, 5th community card, last round of better. A player's best 5 card hand wins, using a combo of their 2 hole cards and the five community cards.

if each play has 2 cards in there hand with 5 cards that are community, it is hold'em
if each player has 4 cards in there hand with 5 community it is Omaha

There is more than one WSOP now that it has become so popular. Hold 'Em, Omaha, limit, no limit, etc etc etc. There are about eight bracelets up for grabs every year now.
