I have a very soft-spoken voice and even in a small group if I say something, sometimes I'm overpowered by others. This young woman will somehow hear me and will ask me to repeat what I said so she can listen. She occasionally gives me advice on my problems with guys. It was hard for me to open up but I did little by little over the past few months. I even started to reach out and interact more. But I'm worried about interacting TOO much. Right before the holidays, I naturally reverted back to my quiet and shy mode. She started to make an effort to get me talking again.

Any conclusions or insight on either of us?

I think she is a sincere person and true friend to you, and you should let yourself trust her a little more.

It sounds like she wants to be friends with you, but you might be making it a bit hard for her by being shy. If she's making an effort to talk to you, don't be afraid to interact with her.

Ponder on what was going on in your life when you withdrew again. The holidays themselves might be reason for you to back off if enduring your memories of them takes all your strength.

If she's done nothing to affect your trust in her, by all means venturing out on that rope of friendship once again.

Tough question. You seem shy and withdrawn. Talking to strangers instead of one person will help you get out of your shell. Most of the time strangers don't put you down, friends
do.
