Recently I spent an unprecedented amount of time with my cat Ginger. I really didn't think I liked her until the other day, so that accounts for this... So anyway, we rolled around on the floor a lot together (playing and such). She goes outside too by the way (she has claws). So we got dirty and I thought I should wash her. Not realizing that cats clean themselves I proceeded to draw a bath for her. My wife informed me later that I didn't need to do that...

So I put her in the tub and tried washing her off. It was quite a struggle, and I ended up in the tub with her! This was fine until I noticed what looked like little buggers swimming around with us. Needless to say, I think I got some bugs in my hair and pubes and am not sure what to do. I am afraid to tell my wife and know she will be pissed that I got in bed with her having lice/fleas. How can I fix this issue??

They were probably fleas. Fleas don't live on people so don't worry about that. Cats dont really get lice. I would suggest getting her a flea collar to wear inside and out so as to get rid of the flea problem.

Ewwwww. Cats and dogs require regular flea treatment, or you can expect them to have fleas. You can't get of these by bathing either - you have to get some proper treatment from a vets, like Frontline. Do not use pet store treatments because they don't work. Now that you've bathed the cat you will have to wait 48 hours before applying anything like Frontline or it can't work - you can get a capstar tablet from a vets in the meantime to deal with current fleas.

Your wife is right - shouldn't be any need to go through the trauma of bathing a cat unless it's rolled in something really awful like paint or engine oil.

Cat fleas don't live on people, they'll jump off.

Get your cat treated with Advantage from the vet, that keeps them off for a good 6 weeks.

dont worry, cats dont get lice. so they were fleas. and the good part about this is, humas dont get fleas, because they wash their hair daily. (or, are supposed to) so dont worry. and if you are still concerned. you could get your wife to check your hair. but i highly doubt you have fleas/lice.
