For about the last year I have had persistent mucus in my throat. I have no other cold-type symptoms and no cough. I don't mean to be gross, but its a rather sticky and stringy mucus - not like a "loogey". It gets stuck on and wrapped around my uvula and hangs in my throat causing me to gag. Sometimes I am able to cough and hack and make some pretty disgusting noises to get it loose and spit it out. However, a lot of the time I have to actually reach into my throat and pull it out with my fingers. It is so bothersome and gross.

Has anyone had this or know how to stop it? I don't really want to make a doctor's appointment just to tell him what I have told you. Of course, if that's what I need to do I will.

Honest answers only, please. I am being 100% genuine and looking for a genuine answer if you have one.

Thanks.

Try some Musinex, (FOUND AT WAL-MARTS) another thing does it have a color or smell? Does your throat hurt? This is probably nothing to worry about....

The mucous is coming from drainage from you nasal passages. Even if you don't feel congested, you probably have a sinus infection and the mucous is being generated in the sinus cavities. If it is a virus, it should go away on its own after a few days. Drink a lot of fluids and it will help clear the mucous. Hot showers work too because the warm water dilates the sinuses and the steam hydrates the mucous membranes.

You probably have allergies, but you should go to the doctor and have them check it out. Try an over the counter anti-histimine.
