Ha ha ha on the atheists who think they're conservatives. Ask the republicans. They won't accept you as conservative. Conservatives have a stricter PC code than common pc stuff. If you don't fit ALL the categories, you're a wanna-be. Nope, you're not going to get the conservative money when they take over everything.

Sure. Although I'd say that atheists tend to be more libertarian than conservative as such.
The Republican Party in the US has three major wings in my estimation: the neocons, religious right, and small-government factions. Only one of those really requires religion of any sort. (Hitchens is at the very least a neocon fellow traveller.)

Sure, atheists come from all walks of life. I'm basically conservative, but I try to evaluate issues based on the facts/implications and not on the political party.

There is nothing about atheism that makes one automatically a liberal.
Gene: Part of being a conservative means that I don't want the government spending money to begin with. Therefore, it is fine if they don't spend it on me. However, since I am a conservative, then it implies that I agree with more than half of their views anyway. Your statement is illogical.

I'm normally conservative, but not on Y!A cuz nobody knows me here.
EDIT:Oh, you meant politically? I thought you meant conservative about their beliefs. Well, I'm libertarian, and I don't know any conservatives, atheists or not, but I'm sure it's possible.

There are numerous conservative atheists on this board. Magley is one, I know, for sure.
I consider myself socially liberal, but very financially conservative. By definition, that makes me a libertarian (I think).

Yes man. I am a Republican supporter all the way, but I cannot be a hypocrite and pretend I believe. If I were I would join the ranks of Clinton supporters bunch of hymn singing hypocrites when there are cameras nearby.

The Great Gazoo is an example of a conservative atheist.
I'm socially liberal but couldn't tell you where I stand on economics or foreign policy.
