Wear a good pair of socks made for hiking and on the areas that you frequently have blisters you can buy protective barriers. They have a lubricant (like vaseline but thicker) that allows you to do these type of activities without the friction on those areas. BandAid brand sells them called Blister relief. You can also get a thick felt like material that is sticky on one side. Cut it to size for the area and then a hole in the center that is the size of the area you get your blisters. The sticky side goes on your skin. Have fun! You might have to go to a sporting goods store to get the felt cushions.

You can get plasters to cover those parts of the foot experience has told you are likely to get blisters. In my case it is always right under my left heel. Make sure your feet are clean dry and talcum powdered to keep them dry, Cut your toenails a couple of days[ before because if you cut them too short they will have a couple of days to recover. Wear two pairs of socks the inner one a very thin soft weave. If you begin to blister attend it immediately because it will not go away. Do not rest for more than about 10 minutes or so max. because you will stiffen up and find it difficult to regain the rhythm. Most of all enjoy it

Change your socks while walking. Cotton is the worst for blisters because it absorbs and holds moisture. Look for synthetic blends specifically designed for your type of activity. If you do not want to buy new socks, bring a few pairs with you and change them out over the course of the walk. Moisture is a big cause of blistering.

I always wear a pair of thin well-fitting socks, with a pair of thick walking socks over the top and walking boots over them. Until I started doing this I used to get really bad blisters, but it really does work!

Whether your boots are right is still debatable but in my experience the best sock combination is light silk or polypro liners under with a heavy ragg wool sock over.
Do not use cotton
Make sure that you start out with clean dry feet .
Make sure that your toe nails are trimmed properly
Halfway thru your walk ,stop and change sox.
When you change your sox , examine your feet for any potential blisters and properly treat with moleskin or foam if need be.
Sprinlke on a little foot powder and you're back to having happy feet
If you can do it avoid walking on concrete .
Of course all of the above advice is of minimal value if your boots don't fit properly.
If you don't have room in your boots to allow for the sock combination that you will be using and the inevitable swelling of your feet from the walking then you may have problems.
