We, Mormons, are NOT bad, at all! We totally take the bad out of everything, haha. It's just another religious, many things are included in our beliefs, the 13 Articles of Faith. Go to the site below to read them (they couldn't copy and paste!!):

http://www.religionfacts.com/mormonism/beliefs/13_articles.htm

It's hard to sum up everything we believe in. If you go to www.lds.org you will be able to find it all there. But if you are wondering stuff what we can't like.. do, do, then here is a list:

Dress Modestly (longer bottoms, no sleeveless tops, cover you stomach, ect.)

No Drugs

No sex before marriage, for it is a sacred thing that we shouldn't mess with.

Watch the media (try not to watch, listen, or read bad stuff)

And stuff such as that, if you go to a Mormon church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), you can be sure to get some pamphelts on our church. One I most reccomend it, The For Strength of Youth. Also be sure to pick up a Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon can I guess be called our "guide". Pretty much everything we believe in is put into that book.

I hope this helps, I enjoy giving out information, it is great! I feel like a missionary, :).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.

Most objective scholars agree that Mormons are Christian. Consider this quote from an academic book entitled “Anthology of World Scriptures” by Robert E. Van Voorst.

“…the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…see themselves as Christian, and most experts in comparative religions would view this labeling as basically correct. That they…accept the Christian Bible as their first cannon is a good indicator of this. Moreover, “outsiders” to [Christianity], such as Buddhists, would almost certainly recognize them as belonging to the stream of Christian tradition.”

Likewise, a recent poll showed that the majority of Americans believe that Mormons are Christians.

You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.

Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:

1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

A Mormon is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We get our nickname from the volume of scripture we use in addition to the bible: The Book of Mormon.

There are a lot of people opposed to our religion, as you can see. Some people make our religion sound bad by telling lies or twisting truth. It can be hard to know what to believe.

For a concise summary of our beliefs, check out the 13 articles of faith. They were written to explain our basic beliefs. If you want to know more you can read the Book of Mormon or request a visit from our missionaries. (see links below)

For myself, I know that the church is the true church of Jesus Christ. Through the teachings of the church I have come to know my Savior and have received peace and happiness in my life because of my relationship with Him. I have overcome weaknesses that plagued my life and brought me misery, all through the strength I receive from my Lord. Your question may have been asked through mere curiosity, but I hope you take time to discover more about our church. It will bless your life.

Some of these answers are really disturbing to me. If you are not a Mormon and you only know what you are typing because you looked it up online, then don't answer this question or any others for that matter. Leave it to the people who know what they're talking about. As for the person who was asking this question, pray about the different responses to know which was are true and which ones are not.

As you have seen, there have been some pro-mormon answers and some anti-mormon answers. Can I give you a couple words of advice to help you in discovering what a Mormon really is?

People who believe in God often recognize that Satan is trying to put down the things of God. When Christ was on the earth, He taught the Truth because He is the Truth. Yet, the religious leaders at that time sought to bring Him down. The Pharisee and Saduccee leaders often sought to confound Christ in His words; they called Him a Sabbath breaker, a blasphemer for saying He was the Son of God (even though He really was), and they went to him with the intent to ask him controversial questions that He wouldn't have any way out of (however, He was able to use those evil attempts to His advantage).

I bring this point up because if Mormonism is a good thing and is of God, then there will be the same opposition today. If there is anything of God, you can expect there to be opposition, trying to convince you that it is heretical (just as the pharisees did with Christ). So there is pure information and there is corrupt information.

So how would one come to know if you are getting the pure information about this church? You do what people had to do in Christ's time.

When someone wanted to learn of Christ, they would go to Christ or to one of His apostles and would learn of Him. If people would listen to the Pharisees or Saduccees, then they would have heard a completely different story than if they would have gone to Christ or one of His apostles - and most often it was a skewed and corrupt view of Christ. So, relating this to today, in order to find out what the church believes, teaches, and can or can't do, you have to go directly to the source that will give you the pure information. Talking with members of this church and visiting official mormon web-sites would be the best way to start. You have to go back to the pure source. I am a "Mormon". We have nothing that we want to hide from you, but people will tell you that we do to scare you from talking to us. As the Savior taught, "Ask and ye shall receive", but you have to ask the right sources. I hope you will take these words to heart and will seek to know what a mormon is from the pure sources. A great place to start would be to visit www.mormon.org. This site is set up specifically so people can learn what Mormons believe and what we're all about. One thing that I would add is that I am not a Mormon because I was born into it and was afraid to get out. I am Mormon because I have felt that I have come to know Christ through this church, the Bible, and the Book of Mormon, better than I did without them. I hope that all goes well for your searh, and I would again encourage you to check out mormon.org.
Best of luck,
Jonathan

Kaschka got the details right but, I suspect, missed the story.

Christianity is first and foremost monotheistic. One God. The LDS Church teaches that there are four Gods in this universe - God the Father, God the Mother, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is independent of the other.

There are multiple universes, and Mormons can become God in their own universes.

The story about Joseph Smith, the angel Moroni and the gold plates is actually quite easy to believe. Moroni's message is very old and very simple: Follow me and I will make you equal to God. This message has always been brought to Man by an angel. The angel has used various names at various times - Beelzebub, Satan, Lucifer - - and now, Moroni.

If you want to know about Mormons go to Mormons, if you want to know about Ford cars, go there, not to a Chevy dealer- and most of these are like doing just that - getting info on a Ford from a Chevy salesman will not give you a clear picture.
This link is to the Mormons.

First.... The Mormons ... ARE NOT...... A Christian Group!

They Call themselves....that !

Their Religion came from The Angel Moroni.... and the... Golden Plates...!

They Preach and Teach.... THAT ONE CANNOT BE SAVED.... WITHOUT WATER BAPTISM....!

The Bible ... does not teach..... THAT ! See Ephesians 2:8-9-10 and Titus 3:5

I can sum up the Mormon Religion... with THIS....

(Galatians 1:6-7-8-9) I marvel that you so soon are being moved away from Him who called you into the grace of Christ, to another gospel,

(Gal 1:7) which is not another, but some are troubling you, and desiring to pervert the gospel of Christ.

(Gal 1:8) But even if we or an angel from Heaven preach a gospel to you beside what we preached to you, let him be accursed.

(Gal 1:9) As we said before, and now I say again, If anyone preaches a gospel to you beside what you have received, let him be accursed.

AND.......

(Isaiah 8:20) To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because no light is in them.

NOW... may I ask YOU.... A Question?

Did their Religion....

= Mormonism =

......Come from.... "An Angel"....

..... OR...

....The Law and the TESTIMONIES of the Word of GOD?

P.S. The Reformed Mormons.... CLAIM.. to be the Real Mormons!

Thanks for Asking ! RR
