I cried because I lost my brother, grandpa, grandma, poppa, and I just lost my dad this year. I cried because I will never be able to talk to them again while being here on earth. I can not just pick up the phone to say hello, I love you or give them a hug. I will not be able to celebrate holidays or birthdays with them. I cried because I miss them and it broke my heart when they passed away.

We cry for a variety of reasons, which any honest person could discern. Grief has something to do with it. If someone takes away your lollipop, you cry, even if you are sure you are going to get it back.

We also cry because of guilt, since we did not treat that person as we should have. Maybe we said things that were cruel or insensitive and now we cannot apaologize.

We cry because we lost someone who made our life here better than it would have been without that person.

And maybe we cry because we cannot be sure whether we will live in the same place as that person in the future.

Why pick on mourners at a funeral? What's wrong with you? You guys are intent on showing that you have no hearts this morning.

Even when a love one is going on a long trip, or away to college, or to work in another country - people cry, or are you to far removed from basic humanity to realize that?

There is nothing wrong with feeling sorrow for the bad life that the departed has lived. Life is a terrible thing to waste. Why ask basic human questions like this? Do you love atheism that much?

This queston leads me to wonder if you have ever experienced a close loss in your life. Have you ever had a person that you loved die? Maybe that's the problem - is that you have not experienced that kind of loss. I know I will see my sister again - when I pass on - but the loss of her now seems very great sometimes. I can't talk to her - I can't lean on her - and the only way I can hear her play her cello is through a non-professional recording - which I am very glad to have. Think about the people in your life - what would you think if you lost them? Even when a person knows that they will meet again someday - they loss is still there.

Despite the fact that I believe I will see my loved ones in heaven, it still hurts to know that they've left me. Sure, it really does give me comfort to know I'll see them again, but at that moment at a funeral, when they talk about all the things the person did in their life, and remembering the good times I've had with the person, it brings tears to my eyes.

We all know that it is appointed for all of us to die but it is human nature to cry about our love ones being gone never to see them again in this life. I am truly a believer in God and I know that my love ones that have died will be in heaven but my flesh longs for them. I know that I will see them again but it still hurts to know when you want to go and talk to them, tell them you love them, or just hold them you can't. I do not disrespect God decision of who lives or dies.

This is an insensitive question... obviously the person is crying because they miss the person who has left. Even if you believe the person is going to a better place it is human nature to miss them

Well, theists try to console themselves by thinking their loved one is "in a better place", but that doesn't change the harsh fact that they're no longer with them.
