When someone like Mother Theresa or Desmond Tutu pray to Jesus, are they really praying to the same Jesus as someone like Pat Robertson or Fred Phelps? Or is it two entirely different entities who answer those prayers? -- one a being of Love, the other a being of Hate?

But does it sometimes seem like two different people can have an entirely different understanding of who a particular God is, even though they may use the same name? And if they have such a diametrically opposed understanding of the nature of that God, is it really the same God, or two different Gods with the same name?

So, why does the Jesus of the Fundamentalists seem so different than the Jesus I was taught to believe in when I was a little Presbyterian boy? One being wrathful, the other being kind? Are they two different beings? Is one Satan? Or are they just two different aspects of the same God -- two different sides of the same coin?

If two different people know you but have different ideas about who you are and want different things from you, does that make YOU 2 different persons or intrinsically change you in any way?

Or you could think of it this way: how does it feel that when another person interacts with you, he or she generally is not interacting with you but with a projection of their own thoughts and desires about who they want you to be.

That replaced right into a trick that Christianity employed while changing pagans - turning the previous gods into angels/demons or asserting that Odin replaced into certainly God. Pagans additionally did an identical element yet to no longer convert others yet to appreciate and adapt different pantheons into their very own. Greek to Roman, to illustrate. The Romans in comparison their gods to the Nordic and struggled to cause them to greater healthful jointly. Do i believe that anybody is worshiping an identical cosmic deity - no. i think of the deities are separate and different. i think of the concept can supply convenience to a pair nevertheless as a manner of attempting for tolerance between religions.

You might get a point in there between those lines somewhere, but I can't picture two people worshiping different Gods with the same name. If you arrange the words a little, it's possible to see two people worshiping the same God with different names.

No, Mother Teresa and Desmond Tutu are praying to the Jesus that they believe in to help others and improve the world in which we live.
Pat Robinson and Fred Phelps are using other people's belief in Jesus to spread their own hatred and bigotry.

In answer to ALL your questions it comes down to this: Understanding WHO God REALLY is and His Personality. Aswell as WHO WORKS for God.

God is unlimited and therefore known by various names according to Gods qualities, abilities and human understanding He is so named. God is all powerful and we are minute in quantity and qualities of Him. He is the SUPREME person and the powerhouse of all creation.

The Supreme being creates the creator of the universe and imparts the relevant knowledge unto this being for creation to begin. Creation is continuous and there are phases of the material creation. Our identites are not with the body that changes until it dies, but the soul that is immortal, around which the body is changing. The soul has a journey to fulfill, and that is to qualify itself to reach the spiritual abode of the supreme being. In order for us to know about God, Prophets descend on earth to teach people. Many times this has happened and therefore Religions spring forth. In very tedious times on earth where there is major need for righteousness, God Himself descends and destroys all evil.

In Hinduism there are millions of "Gods" but they are DEMI-GODS with various roles to perform, they are not the supreme personality. The original name for the original person is Krsna which means reservoir of pleasure or all attractive, Because inevitably God is the supreme enjoyer. When Krsna creates the universes He becomes Vishnu. (eg. if you are a teacher, when you are at work you are called Mam or sir but at home you are yourself.) When God is creating the universe He changes accordingly and when He is Himself He is then Krsna. With us it is not possible to be everywhere at the same time, But with God it is and more, He can be everywhere but still be a whole person simultaneously. (eg. there are many droplets of water with the same qualities as the ocean, that are everywhere, but the ocean is still remains the same.
Another example is electricity, in the same way electricity spreads everywhere and illuminates things, yet the powerhouse remains the source.) Similarly God is a person and He is present everywhere.
Omnipresent: present everywhere.
Omnipotent: possesses all the potencies in full
Omniscient: has all the knowledge.

SO if people call God by different names, they're still referring to the same God (eg. If you are the president and I refer to you as: the president or call you by your personal name, you're still the same person. If you are calling God using names of the Demi Gods, the demigods have to still acquire permission from the supreme being. So either way the original supreme being answers.

Cant give you an honest answer with the way that you placed the names in your question. Seems to be more political than spiritual. Which one do you pray to?

To pray to God in Spirit & Truth, one needs to be born again of Gods Spirit.

Mother Theresa didn't have a relationship with Jesus Christ, according to the articles written of her. And she also didn't lead people to Christ on their death bed. But led them to their god. She prayed to the Christian God for the Christians who were dieing.

Pat Robertson is a born again Christian. I don't know Desmond Tutu or Fred Phelps. And it is a heart matter. There is only One true Jesus of the Gospels who died on the cross for our salvation.
Our self righteousness is like filthy rags. But to go to heaven, or reach Gods Throne in heaven, we need to be righteous. So? We need Christ Righteousness. Jesus is the only way to be restored to God. Because Jesus is the only one who was righteous enouph to raise from the dead.

Yes people can worship different gods with the same name. Some self called Christian denominations have a different Jesus. A different Gospel than the NT Gospel. A different God than the God of Israel & Jesus Church.

Pat Robertson isn't of hate. He is of love. He just has been falsely accused of being of hate. God of Israel & God of Christianity is the Same God & God Is Love.

The God of hate is satan. Who is a murderer, slanderer, false accuser, thief, etc... since the beginning. He who hates God, loves death. You can see who loves the god of hate. They murder others. Just like the murderer (Grinch) who murdered a family including the young children on Christmas Eve. The murderer even looked like Jesus. And I believe the god of hate (devil), hates people who looks like Jesus (or has blessed names) & tries to convert them to satan (murderer, false accuser, fearful, etc..) But the person has a choice to believe the devils lies & rejecting the God of Love, or turn to Jesus Christ for salvation.

Actually, nothing answers their prayers. However, that doesn't stop them from telling their flock that they saw a great vision rolling in from the clouds...
