Ok let me just add i ask if single mams do because if there was a male in the house ie father he would teach different.

Yes and to aim straight when they got older!
Did they listen? - well *most* of the time but I also had to chase them down and send them back up there with a cloth to clean up after themselves! - and never mind "It wasn't me!" - it was *one* of them because it certainly wasn't me!

Well I wouldn't know Jay as I haven't been a single mother and I only have two daughters! If my husband is anything to go by though his mum must have taught him as he always puts the toilet seat down and I NEVER have to remind him!!!

I will teach my boy to sit down for the first several years of using a toilet. I will teach him to stand up though, before he gets a sense of modesty. He may want to know that before he goes into a public washroom. But we go camping and stuff, so he will know that from the outdoors I gues

As the mother of 3 boys ( youngest now 17). I aways taught them to put the toilet seat down...I even floated a ping pong ball in the loo to encourage them where to aim!!!

actually i didnt even think about it as i always do it for him, but from now on my little boy will be tauch
its wierd because if any men use the toilet in my house and dont put the seat done i go crazy

Mine did, it's just thoughtful plus rats can get in your home via the loo but not if the lid is down! Fact!!
