If this is your first cat, here's some advice. You can't make cats do what they don't want to do. Don't even try. The more you try, the worse your relationship will be. He will come out when he darn well pleases. He will leave his hiding spot for just a few reasons (potty, food, water, boredom) and entertaining you or your family is not on that list. You're the human, so you should be the smart one. Block off his hiding places when he's not there so he won't be able to use them again. Get used to this. Cats are great companions, but they have their eccentric ways. Good luck!

1. Safety proof all small places that are dangerous for your cat.

2. Keep all little things away from it in reaching distance.

3. Get one person (probably the most patient person, or quiet) to go in the room and just sit in there with it until it comes out.

4. If 3 doesn't work just let it sit in there (if its safe there is nothing wrong with that)

Since it is new you should probably not try to handle it to much by just letting it explore your house and discover its favorite spots. If this continues for longer than a week, there could be something wrong with your cat or maybe its just shy. When we first got our cat, we kept her in a room by herself and we would go in every half hour or so to just sit in there with her.

GOOD LUCK!

i does not complication approximately it too plenty definitely. as long as he's no longer getting caught to the element the place you need to head the settee to get him out or back there chewing on electric powered wires he must be positive. Cats our bodies are made to squeeze and contort into quite small areas. i'm sorry this in all probability wasn't the respond you have been hoping for yet in my journey, cats are incredibly self sustaining and that they many times wont get themselves right into a place the place they could't get out. good success.

I would try:

1) Using food. My cat was underneath our deck, and we used a can of cat food, he came out.

2) Block the spots after he has come out, if possible.

How old is the cat?

You could give him food, coax him out with a little snack. Or you could block the way he gets in, so he will stop trying to hide. I'm sure it is just a phase and he will grow out of it as soon as he becomes more comfortable with his new surroundings. Good luck! :)

since he's new he's xploring. if this continues after u'v had him 4 a while u should try and get some treats 2 lure him out. but rite now he's just xploring so let him be...unless he gets in2 places he shouldn't get in2 then u should get a treat and lure him away but don't force ever cuz he's just figuring out his surroundings. 1 other thing is that until he gets 2 kno u be calm especially when ur around him.

He is terrified so let him make the move himself. My trick, that I have posted a few times before, is to put a small piece of turkey near him. The next piece hold in your fingers. Walla, he will be your best friend. Make sure when you open the door that he doesn't run out. Because he is so scared right now , he wants to escape.

bribe him to come out with a smelly cat treat like Purina Whisker Licken's tender moments. When you get him out, you might want to consider confining him to one room for a day or two while he gets comfortable in his new surroundings. Put a feline pheromone diffuser in the room he is confined in and it will help him relax. You can get pheromone diffusers at pet stores.

With the presence of all family members, you have to pamper the cat and let it smell each and everyone in your house.do this for a week or so.I am sure your cat wont hide.

My cat always hides and we usually get her canned cat food or treats. You could try using your cats favorite food to get him out.
