PLEASE do NOT listen to all the people telling you that putting an unknown type of tree branch in with your bird will be safe!!
There are LOTS of poisonous trees out there, especially for birds who are very delicate!
EXAMPLES-
OAK will kill your bird with it's tannic acid!
YEW is so poisonous it can even kill PEOPLE!
OLEANDER is deadly.
Hemlock is toxic.
Azalea is poisonous!
MANY more could be listed.
There are many types of wood that are safe, but you MUST know what kind of wood you are dealing with!!
Good luck

OK. I had a houseplant that hangs down, and I never even noticed that it grew and hung down in back of the cage.
One day I came home and my budgie was stone cold dead and there were a few bites out of a leaf from this plant.
I cried for a whole day.
Identify this tree. Most are not poisonous, but still...

There are many natural branches that can be used as perches for pet birds. To be sure that you don't use a type of tree branch that is poisonous to the bird, use this link:
(Be sure to clean the perch thoroughly with bleach and water, rinse WELL, and dry thoroughly before you add it to the cage.
Don't use soap or cleaners that aren't bird safe.)

depends on the tree. Some woods are poisonous to birds. You'll need to find out what kind of tree and then google and see if it is bird safe or not. The branches that you buy in the stores are manzanita branches.

most of the u.s. trees are safe for budgies. definately boil it in a pot of water first to kill off germs, tics, parasites, etc. if this is not helping, just go grab a branch off an oak or maple and save some time, but still boil it

natural trees are alright. my budgies and canaries like them a lot more then the straight ones from the pet store. i made sure the braches were clean, and i didn't need to boil it or anything.

Apple or Maple is ok. Yes, wash it with a little soap and water, rinse well, and let it dry first.
