my jack russel is 2 and i want to have her neutred. she was last in season in September this year. Is there a certain time to have it done

Now, or within the next two months. If you wait until the next "season" you will need to wait longer. Some vets will spay her even when she is in heat, but you need to wait. There is a high chance of complications, like blood loss.

It is best to have her spayed at least 1 month after or 1 month before her next heat cycle, or anywhere in between those times.

That way there is no internal swelling and less blood loss complication concerns.

The BEST time to spay female dogs is at/before 6 months of age - every time they have a heat cycle, it increases their chances of getting mammary cancer later in life.

Best time is midway between seasons, so now is ideal!

anytime after a season is good providing the animal is over 6 months old.

the sooner the better.
They can be spayed at 4 months old withthe vet I use.
You definately want it done before teh end of Feb before she comes back into heat.

you have female dogs SPAYED. you can do it anytime now good luck
