That all depends on your shooting ability and conditions - is it windy, what position are you shooting from (offhand, kneeling, prone, etc). The .22 round has more than enough energy to take rabbits further than you can accurately shoot it.

For myself and my rifle, 50 yds is my max and that's using a rest and no wind.

Without knowing anything about your shooting ability, it would be impossible to say what the maximum range that YOU, could kill a rabbit, nor how many shots that it might require, for YOU, to kill this rabbit

Directly depends on your rifle, your ability and what power scope you use. I would say your maximum effective range would be about 65-70 yards using Thunderbolts and if the Rabbit stands motionless....Everything depends on your ability to shoot as mentioned earlier.....

Depends on where you want to hit it. Some people eat rabbit, so if that's your end game, getting a head shot is acheivable to out to 125 to 150 yards, but that assumes you can actually do the shooting. Most .22LR ammo has the power to do the job out to 175 yards, but most .22 ammo isn't consistent enough to make shots like that. Maybe just a suggestion, I'd pick different ammo. Thunderbolt "gums up" the rifling. I like CCI's mini-mag and velociter .22LR ammo much better.

As a kid I zeroed mine for 100 yards (paced off) and shot Jackrabbits with it all day long. If your hunting cottontails though you'll never see one a hundred yards away cause they hang out in thick cover. Get a shotgun cause 80% of your cottontail shooting is done while they are running at shotgun range.

No more than 75 or so yards. It greatly depends on your shooting ability to accurately hit the target at that range.

With the right scope and if your a good shot you can hit targets of 6 inch size up to 500 yards. A .22 Long Rifle will travel 1.5 miles at the right angle. Check out this web sight and watch the videos. They are using their scope at 400 yards.

If you had a 20X Target scope mounted on it, between 200 to 300 yards.*
