I am quiet. I hate being around people I don't know. I can even be quiet when I'm with friends. I hate parties, I hate getting drunk, I hate loud people, I hate immature teenage girls. I am the introvert type... and I am 18...

My mum is away for the week. The house is left to me and my 16 year old sister. She is inviting tons of her friends over for a "New Years Eve Party"...

I was hoping I could just have a quiet night... but now, the room next to me will be filled up with stupid 16 year olds just hoping to get drunk, laid, party...

I will be in the next room on the computer, and they will not understand at all how I could be on the computer and not partying on a night like New Years Eve. Pretty easily for me, I slept through New Year last time...

Will I survive this night of drunken debauchery? I don't think so. I think it will add to my hate of everything I mentioned above.

This will be the worst night of 2007.

I feel like this at times too, so you're not alone. I don't like being around people i don't know, and this sounds like my idea of hell. Can't you book into a hotel for the night just to escape this party and get some peace and quiet? Do you have any relatives you can stay with over night? Say you're not feeling well and that you just want to sleep. Hope you can work something out.

ok i am not having a go at you. like you i hate being around people i don't know because i'm shy. but you are 18, at some point you will have to learn to come out of your shell a bit more, you are approaching a stage in your life when you are becoming an adult and you will have to meet and speak to new people. it's hard for some poeple, and it doesn't happen overnight, but if you can be confident in youself, you will be a much happier person.

now, i suppose it might be a bit late to invite your friends over, but if not give them a call and see what they're doing. if they're good friends they'll sympathise with your situation.

most importantly, don't worry about what your sister's friends think!!! they're silly 16 year olds!!! and if they think you're being a bit weird, then you can say that it's only because you have to look after them.

tomorrow night is my birthday and at midnight i will say a happy new year wish for u! x

EDIT: Eleanor is talking bull****, you do not need anti-depressants, a lot of teenagers your age feel like that. Don't let people get you down you're worth more than that!

You don't have to let it suck. Why don't you go out and take a walk around the block or something? Go out. Well, at least for a little bit. You don't want your sister to get into too much trouble. Or danger.
Anywho, I wish you the best New Years Eve!
I hope it won't be the worst night for you. : )

Does your mother know about this little shindig? You might want to tell her about it. Houses get severely damaged by party-goers and people crashing the party who aren't invited. Things are stolen, people trash the house completely. These teenagers might drive drunk afterwards and your mother would be sued by families for damages from car accidents. Someone might even die in a car accident. I think you'd better tell her.

Do you have a friend who feels the same? If so stay at there place. Explain the situation to them and they should understand if not then just accept you may have a bad night but its only one night so its not that bad.

You could simply put up with it, or you could deal wth it. Tell your sister she can't have a party or go round to a friends. I'd join in personally but if it's not your scene I understand.

Have you seen a doctor recently? I know guys hate it, I have a Brother just like you. But you could really do with some antidepressants or therapy my lovely.

Life is what you make of it - and you're making it very bleak and depressing.

you show no willing to pull yourself out of this depressing persona you give off. instead of dwelling on what might be, slip into good thoughts of how you may actually enjoy new years and what you can do as a person to perhaps change things for the better.
