I would recommend taking her to the vet.
It's time that you and your vet had a very serious talk.
If your girl is in the last stages of congestive heart failure (and it sounds like she may be) and has not lost the ability to control her bladder - it may be time to consider putting her to sleep.
2 years ago I had to put my fur baby to sleep. He was in a similar situation. After much thought and an honest conversation with the vet- I made the hard decision.
After so many years of being a good friend to me - this was the time that I needed to be a good friend to him.
It was a very peaceful process - it's two shots. He never felt pain and he went to the rainbow bridge knowing that I loved him. The last thing he felt was me petting him and the last thing he heard was me telling him how much I loved him. When he left this world, he was not alone and he knew he was loved.
It was the hardest decision I ever made. But it was the right one. I have no regrets about it. He had a wonderful life with me and I was able to be there with him at the end.
If you decide that it is time to make the hard decision for your girl - I do recommend being in the room with her. Your imagination is much worse than the reality. It's a time for you to stop thinking of whats best for you and do what is in her best interest.
I am very sorry you are going through this.

Yes your dog is in the final stages as the urinating is a sign that your dog's kidneys are failing. My cat 'Tony Joe' 16 and had to be put down. It is the saddest thing I have ever had to deal with as we were very close to our pet. Tony Joe was a family member and I still have a picture of him next to my computer at home and one at work as well.
Please don't let your dog suffer any longer, go to the vet and do what is the right thing. It will not be easy and you will be sad and cry but you already know what is the right thing to do.
God Bless you and you dog.

Those are all signs that life is becoming a struggle. See your vet and talk about what is the most humane and gentle way to let her leave peace fully and and with the least amount of pain.
You will know when the time is right believe me my dog lived until she was 16 almost 17. I worked very closely with my vet spent lots of time with my girl and kept her as comfortable as possible. I knew when it was time.
Good luck this is a hard time

She should probably be taken to a vet who will be able to give you more of a time frame of how much life she has left...just to let you know it is possible that the vet may reccommend euthanizing which is a humane thing to do in a advaced illness where an animal is suffering. Good Luck in veternary school you have a big heart to pursue the career of helping animals ((hugs))

I hate to say it but she has hit that point... If it was just the urining everywhere she might have a year left but the heart faliare and coffing cut it down. Maybe 6 months left? however much time IS left, its not going to be much more then a year, maybe not even with doctor help. Spend as much time as possible with your dog! You never know when it will happen. And if this continues and she looks like she is suffering put her down. It will make her death more peaceful.

If your babe is coughing, there is a medication that may help her, it is called "Temaril P", It has a cough suppressant a steroid and an antibiotic! You may want to give the vet. a call, most of the time they can fill this for you without seeing the dog!! I am so sorry your babe is sick!!!! I would make her very comfortable and put down pee pee pads so she doesn't have to go out! Good Luck to you!!

I think it would be worth taking your dog back to the vet. Sometimes tablets can be given that help to limit the amount of urine the dog produces. Older dogs do lose muscle tone and so often become incontinent. Your dog has reached doggie old age, but is lucky to have a concerned and loving owner like you. Good luck.

I agree with Jess. You have to take her to the vet. If the vet says she has only a few months left then spend the months with her in happy times. Give her the finest treats and extra walks. Hug her, kiss her, and take her places. Hope that helps!

I know it is tough, but you need to think what's best for your dog right now. If she's suffering have her put to sleep. It's the kindest thing to do. It's amazing how these animals become our best friends and part of the family. I've been in your situation several times. You might not think so but when she does die, go out and get a new puppy right away, it does help with the pain.

Take her to the vet, now! There is medication that can prolong her life but congestive heart failure is impossible to cure. She may not have very long now, but with medicine, which is very expensive, she may have another year or two left to live.
