Is it more likely for a guy who just had a breakup w/ a gf of a few years, to want to date girls like the ex? And I mean attracted to them both in looks and personality?? Or does it really not matter at all?

you didnt say who iniciated the break-up.... that is huge. I f they are trying to hang on to her they will try for someone "like her" or a "replacement" ...If I broke up it is because I want something different,,,, then I go for as much differance as I can ( within my personal acceptability) If I break up with a girl who is a bit of a homebody and likes staying in snuggling etc, I tentd to want to fill the othere end of my needs... and go for the advetorous, and out going.... same goes in reverce...... and pysicaly.... always go for slimmer, but tall Vs. shorter, or size and shape of certain parts needs to make a change as long as we are changing things.. veriety is good.... until I find the girl who has such a broad range of who she is that she can match me pretty well on all levels

While there are always exceptions to every rule and situation, the broader answer to your question is no. Guys ( and gals for that matter) will date any one that catches their fancy, piques their interest, and has the the qualities they want; that is , assuming that they have a set of qualities to begin with. For example, if a guy likes a gal only for her looks, then he would look for that quality in every girl and vice versa. You do have the exceptions to the rule---like the people who won't date a poor person, or someone of a different color, or with a different hair color and so on. But for most people, it makes no difference.

doesn't really mean anything -you're probably just attracted to that 'type' ie: brunnette, long legs, etc. etc... most people date relative to who they're accustomed to seeing on a daily basis as well - ie: your mom, sister, cuz, ...
