My family in the past is from Cork and Sligo Ireland and their names were Healy/Cassin. I am trying to find a good way to try to find them because i want to find/meet them and possibly visit cause life is quite boring in the states. Any ideas on how to find them and if they are really my family?

Talk to the churches in the towns/cities where they were. they will have marriage licenses, birth records, death records, sometimes where they moved to etc. I went to Ireland for a semester and one of the girls that came with me her father was from Galway (where we were) and she went to church and was able to find his birth and death record the marriage cert. for his grand parents and throug that was able to locate her aunt and two uncles. good luck

It would help if you could narrow down the area in Cork or Sligo as much as you can.

I did a search on http://www.eircomphonebook.ie/search.ds and found dozens of Healys in both places. There were two Cassin residential entries for Cork, and none at all for Sligo. A search for all Ireland found 4 Cassin business entries, one each in four different counties, and there were residential entries too. So you see, if you can finetune your search a bit, it would be less like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Try the telephone directory .... but you should be aware that in the 200 years or so since your ancestors left for the USA, people in Ireland have moved around, so there might not be any actual relatives of these names remaining in Counties Cork or Sligo.

You could try the website GENUKI Ireland and post a query re your families. People are always reading them and if they know anything they will answer you.
