Every year just after the New Year celebrations I usually get really low and this seems to last until about the beginning of March. I know I suffer from S.A.D so I'm not too concerned about that but what does bug me is the way I feel right now. I feel low, dissatisfied and generally fed up but I do not know why. Its hard to explain it, but I have a need to start changing things, little things, just because its a new year. In reality I couldnt give a stuff about Jan 1st, its just a date, so why do I get the urge to change things? Earlier I wanted to move the furniture about in the bedroom and put up different curtains, even though I had a major op and am supposed to be resting. My hubby, bless him, was shifting the wardrobe and pulling up rugs just because it had to be done right there and then, I couldn't wait! Then I got depressed because I do not know why I feel this way and now I feel like ****. Please, someone tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Blessings

You don't need to try to change things. With all the pressure every one puts on a NEW start and making things different Its a lot of bull. Yes for some people it is the time for a difference but for many of us its just a way to mess everything up. Try to worry less about changing things and just keep things the way thay are. Depression this time of year is normal for many people even if thay don't know it. Keep your head up and take it one day at a time and remember your not alone.

Yes I too get depressed and I worked it out last night, there is so much emotion around at this time of year and if perhaps, like me, you are not shown much back it can be very depressing. You look forward so much to having the family home, put up decos, do the shopping, buy the gifts you think they would like and then.. nothing, it's all over in a few hours, the presents are strewn all over the place, the family are bickering or not talking and you are wishing them gone! Other people are going around with such Bon Homie and and everything is wonderful with the world, other people are going around with such Bon Homie and everything is wonderful with the world, you're expected to have a permanent smile and a happy face but but no one sees how miserable you are inside. Roll on the Spring quickly please

surprisingly yeah. I went to a celebration with a gaggle of adults, and as a 17 twelve months previous i replaced into advantageous with it, no person afflicted me, it replaced into advantageous. I only without notice have been given particularly depressed jointly as being there, and upon returning living house i chanced on myself crying randomly. i assume which potential it's going to be a foul twelve months for me

Funny that you say that. I usually get the winter blues. They start around that ultra gluttonous holiday called Thaksgiving and it lingers over me past my birthday which is January 3. Then is lasts all the way thru Valentines' day.

Winter depression is still a mystery to scientists who study it. But researchers agree that people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder are particularly sensitive to light, or the lack of it.
You are not alone and this is just the effects of SAD continuing.

you aren't the only one...in fact this time of year prompts more suicides than at any other time of the year...esp if you are alone or lost someone around the holidays....
one thing you can do is UV therapy.....this I find more helpful than popping pills....just get to a tanning salon on a regular basis...the UV exposure has been proven to help....
good luck...I feel your pain... :-(

Yes I do. I switch all my lightbulbs to full spectrum lightbulbs and pay the extra electricity bill to have plenty of light. I also try to get out in every sunny day we have.
