How many times have you employed showing the other cheek in face of opposition? What is the priority of this in Christianity and if you have failed to do so, what are the reasons because after all this is a teaching of Christ?

SO if someone is breaking into my home and is trying to rape me and steal from me, you think I ought to let them do it without a fight?
Dream on....it ain't happening.

I will not take physical abuse.

God told me to take care of my body. I will.

I have taken verbal abuse here without retaliating. I have been called illiterate, a moron, an idiot, a worthless piece of trash, and I have been told I deserve to be fed to lions, put in a mental institution, etc.
I've been told that, as a Christian, I deserve nothing but ridicule and disrespect.
I have not struck back.

An honest question to you:
Do you feel as if we ought to be beaten unmercifully and then ask for more?
Surely you are not that inhumane!
Do you want to use this as an excuse to hurl abuse at all believers? Would that make you feel like a man?

Aren't you REALLY using this as an excuse to call us liars and hypocrites because YOUR INTERPRETATION of this is that we ought to let people beat us, rape us, steal from us, and abuse us in any way they desire?

“But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also."

This scripture does not say we should roll over and die, be silent, or without an opinion. In fact it says do not resist an evil person and if struck to not strike back. Christ was the perfect example of this. I have been hit by 2 different chicks in HS and I walked away both times. I cant control others actions I can only control my own. As the scriptures point out "our weapons are not carnal". As far as priority there is none Christ says in that same chapter Matt 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven" there is no greater or worst infraction where God is concerned. Thats mans way of thinking.

****Craig B. thats called being passive aggressive. Most men resort to this form of "fighting" because they couldnt out argue/smart their wives even if they wanted too.....*********

This is also a principle that Jesus taught:

Matthew 6
2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

So, I don't count how many times I do what. God counts them, but I do not.

Aren't you just asking, how 'good' are you Christians?"

That's not a very productive tact, in my opinion. Spiritually speaking.

"Turning the other cheek" is not about physical fighting. It is about submission and is core to Jesus ministry.
Yes, I figured that out a long time ago when I would "get into it" with my wife. When I learned to "turn..." and submit even when I knew I was right, a few days or even a few weeks later, she would come to me in tears and ask for my forgiveness for her bad behavior.
I showed my wife that I love her by "turning the other cheek" and the important thing is - the Lord saw it too and that's the important thing!

To be honest, I have only done it a few times and over very simple things like if my younger siblings do something little to me, I might let them do another to me. The reasons why I have failed to do this, is because of selfishness, which is very hard to overcome. I guess I need to be more devout.

Right now I am about 50/50 as far as letting people attack me. I have not had the opportunity to respond physically yet. If I am required to do this then it is going to take GOD's power to do it. If I could be perfect then Jesus would never had to go to the cross. I do my best and leave the rest up to GOD.

If I expect it, I am better able to do that. When I am blind sided, I just tend to react. It is part of Christs teaching and one that is good to follow. Sadly, human nature is sometimes involved and I fall short.
