I try to look upon it as an exercise in humility. :)

I sure have. Once for a question that was written in a moment of frustration and by the time I cooled my jets and would have deleted it completely, there were several answers. I did not think it would be fair for the responders to lose the time and effort they took, nor the points, so I left it and chose for BA the one who did the best job of putting me in my place, and apologized in my comment. I also posted a public apology for some R&S prank gone sour, in the form of a question. So many people have come to mean so much to me here, I want to treat them as my friends. It does not mean I always agree with them, but I want always to be respectful. I did learn from both incidents. (((((UP)))))

I once tried to make a general apology in the form of a question but Y!A never even posted it, within 6 minutes I got a violation notice.

Yes. I had an answer that basically was full of vitriol aimed at all of Christianity, and I posted it because I was totally pissed off at a bunch of Christians who had been both unresponsive to a question I had posted, and had been incredibly mean and vicious in their responses to me.

I was mad as hell, I said a lot of unkind things and said them as though they applied to all Christians, which they didn't. I was called on the carpet by one of my colleagues, and I apologized to all for my hissy fit.

I monitor myself better now, and read my answers before I submit them, to make sure I am not writing in anger.

Yes - if I read a question a second time and realize I jumped to a conclusion, I'll email the person and apologize.

Yes, I have. Just the other day I was rude to this girl for no reason at all (I know, I know), and then I pulled myself together and offered my apology. I must say it happens to me quite often.

edit: I love ecterbob's response. Exactly how I feel about it!

Only once. Knowing Muslims denied eating pigs, I said that Christians didn't. Turned out there actually was a scripture in the Bible saying consuming piglet was dirty. I was wrong and I had no problem owning up to it. I like to learn.

Yes, I inadvertently made a large generalization in a question, and apologized to the ones that called me on it.

I was wrong when I claimed to be standing on a hill and peeing in the general direction of a large church filled to overflowing with fervent people praising Jesus til they're blue in the face.
I was not there doing that. I cannot even connect my laptop to the internet, while atop a hill near that church.

Not yet.

I try not to answer if I don't know something...

Oh, I have apoligized to people on Email for making false assumptions; for example I once mistook an agnostic for a deist....

Yes, it was regarding some agnostics. A false assumption was made on my part.

You know, it is to be expected (and now I'm just begging for it), but seriously, who reads my answer and gives a thumbs down? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
