Yes... to cheap houses and rent and good jobs and shops.

I would say no to it being being a nice place....but that is my opinion based on having lived there and then living other places too. My experience has been in the northern to northeastern suburb area. They are not proactive to the growth in the areas....housing and commercial developments spring up everywhere that land is available and close to roads....so now you have 2 lane country highways that cant handle the traffic that has been dumped upon it....and it is only after yrs of headache and frustration that they finally widen the roads. So if you dont like to sit in traffic for the smallest of errands...and that would affect your day to day living. That would not make it nice. There are not any areas (only VERY few) that have greenways or sidewalks or parks for recreation(most parks are only built for soccer or softball needs.) Alpharetta is the only one I know that has a greenway....and there is the Chattahoochee trail at Paces ferry. There is some bike trail they have that used to be railroad tracks. But that is really all I know. If outdoor recreation is important to you....it is not a nice place.

Now if you were to think about living in some of the intown areas of Atlanta....the experience may be totally different. Atlanta does have lots of intown neighborhoods that are loaded with charm....and some are integrated so that you may even be able to walk to shopping. You will be paying more for for this kind of housing. It just depends on what kind of area you want to be in and what's important to you on a day to day living experience.

Well, if you're looking for something presentable in a nice neighborhood it could be expensive. For instance, Buckhead. But Atlanta has a fairly low cost of living. You can get a nice house in the city for about 180K to 200K. They are really building up. So there are many townhomes. The Buckhead area has superb condominiums along with Atlantic Station. If you're in to the city life, you'd definitely want to live in these two areas. They are also two of the main shopping areas in Atlanta. Lenox is in the Buckhead area, along with Phipps. They both have nice clothing shops, and you can almost always catch a celebrity there. Atlantic Station was built not too long ago. Definitely a nice place with wonderful shops and restaurants. If you're looking for something quiet, suburbish, try something not too far from the city, but not the actual city. Marrieta, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, and many Dekalb and Gwinnett areas. Gwinnett has very nice, affordable housing, as long with the best school system in Georgia. If anything steer of the APS school system. For the jobs, well the country is facing a steep unemployment rate. As long as you have nice credentials, a lot of experience, you should be fine. If you're moving from a place like California or New York, or other big cities, everything will be cheap and affordable and work will be easy to find.
