If you read the Bible as being literaly true and literaly the word of God, be careful not to blaspheme when you answer:

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. Hosea 13:16

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and a-s-s.
1 Samuel 15:3

“0 daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.” Psalms 137:8-9

Sit Ubu, a "suckling" would be a baby that has not yet been weaned from his mother's breast: does that fit your definition of "baby"

The whole "wickedness" thing is bullcrap--What people could be so evil that it would be good to murder their infant children? If they were babies couldn't you bring them up to be good instead of smashing them against rocks?

Killing BABIES is certainly not morally acceptable.
You are quoting from The OLD TESTAMENT---The old JEWISH laws.

JESUS came. He gave us the NEW COVENANT.

From the verses you've quoted, it appears to be acceptable as long as they are the children of your enemies. This question caused me to think of a remarkable piece Mark Twain wrote called "The War Prayer". I think about "The War Prayer" every time I hear an athlete or performer that wins an game or award says that god or Jesus deserves the credit. Didn't the losers pray for victory as well?

I also find it interesting that when believers who insist that the Bible is literally true will then dismiss questions like this with the rather reflexive "Christ gave us a new covenant", end of discussion. Christ was an observant Jew who followed the law.

No wonder Thomas Jefferson created the Jefferson Bible.

If God could be that "mean," then perhaps hell is worth a second look, and should be taken seriously. And something else to think about, perhaps man is not as innocent as you think he is. Isaiah 64:6 should put it in perspective for you.

My God! It seems the Old Testament is as bad as the Koran. But the OT is really Jewish religion. The sooner they are both declared the word of the Devil the better.

I what context is it morally acceptable to force a thirteen year old rape victim to give birth to the child of her attacker? In that situation, it is far more compassionate to abort the baby.

edit; Exousia Skotos -- masturbation. . . . "the sinner at HAND" pun intended? LOL!

Only when YHVH commands it! Likewise, when is the sacrifice of children acceptable? See Gen.22:1-12.

Define "babies".

I asked you to define babies, so it doesn't matter if your definition "fits mine". Some people define the cluster of a few cells that develop right after conception to be a baby. I wanted your definition so I could answer your question.

So, if you deifne a baby as you do, then the obvious answer is virtually never.

loss of existence is merciless if existence is the main needed element. infants killed bypass to be with GOD in heaven. they're to no longer an age of accountability. If GOD desires to wipe out the annoying Amalek for killing infants whilst the Israelites got here out of Egypt, he has the terrific and authority to realize this.

If you define your morality by these laws, it is. If you don't, it generally isn't, unless your particular morality allows it. There are multiple "bad" edicts of this type, but you only have to worry about them if you believe in that book.

YOUR ANSWER......!1

(Deuteronomy 9:3-4-5) Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.

(Deu 9:4) Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: = = = BUT FOR THE WICKEDNESS = = = of these nations = = the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.

(Deu 9:5) Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
