Ever see the medication commercials on tv when they say... that taking (---blank---) to stop (---seizures---)... may bause annurisims, bloating, vomiting, even death... LOl they kill me with them. The truth is that nobody knows. Are the studies giving the subjects 'normal' amounts of Splenda? Could it be somethng else causing the cancer? Splenda hasn't been around long enough to really know.
Personally, I try to eat as much natural food as possible. Sugar isn't a bad thing when eaten in moderation - just like everything else. Of course, if you're diabetic, or have some other reason not to eat sugar, then you're looking for something to substitute. It is my opinion that Splenda is probably the least toxic of the options. But if you are just dieting, it's probably best to simply limit your intake of sweets, learn to drink your tea/coffee without it, and eat a balanced diet. Also, natural foods are probably your best bet in either case, since there are more nutrients in less food, and there are fewer 'bad' fats and toxins in food that is as close to it's original form as possible.
You don't have to be a 'food nazi' about it, just make wise choices when you have the opportunity and indulge on rare occasions.

I think there's no study that actually says, "Splenda caused cancer in our lab rats." Research results tend to be much more vague than that.
Even if there were such a study, please keep in mind that the test animals would have been fed a lot of the stuff -- enough to produce some observable change in their body chemistry. Humans would have to consume a bucketful of Splenda every day for months at a time to cause a comparable change.
I suspect that plain old sugar is probably just as healthy as -- or at least, no more unhealthy than -- any artificial sweetener, and cutting back on sugar is better still.
Don't let the media scare you. Most journalists don't know any more than you or I when it comes to science, including medical science.

The REAL truth is that if you are concerned for your own health (or for that of your loved ones), you will gain an instant guaranteed advantage if you stop driving/riding in cars, since the PROVEN measurable danger of cars is literally hundreds of thousands of times greater than any possible "danger" from artificial sweeteners. The ONLY studies that showed any positive correlation showed one that was smaller than the "margin of error" for the calculation, that's why the FDA declared them safe & legal.
Use your common sense once in a while! If Splenda caused brain cancer, lymphoma or leukemia, why did these diseases exist before 1976? And why do people get them in countries where sucralose is not yet available?
And why is no-one in India (where the same product is marketed as "Natura") freaking out about it causing cancer?
America is awash with individuals who (despite good quality free schooling) are woefully poor "logical thinkers" who often believe that there is a "silver bullet" simple answer to every problem. Thank goodness so few of these people go into the medical field, or the whole Nation would quickly perish!

No factual scientific evidence exists that links splenda as a cause for cancer in human beings. That is the truth. Anything else that you have read is based on someones opinion and not on facts.
"The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of sucralose, brand name Splenda, to be on the consumer market. This safety of the product is based on the review of over 110 studies involving animals and humans. The FDA looked for carcinogenic, reproductive and neurological effects of usage and found none.
The FDA has found no cancer causing properties in the usage of Splenda."
Disputes arise from politics and not on factual studies.
Artificial sweeteners and cancer risk in a network of case–control studies : 2006 European Society for Medical Oncology
http://annonc.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/18/1/40
"Conclusion: The present work indicates a lack of association between saccharin, aspartame and other sweeteners and the risk of several common neoplasms."

Any studies that indicated it has any deleterious side effects like that, have also made it quite clear that the effect was so small as to fall within the margin of error.
ALL other sweeteners available, including sugar itself, have much worse health effects, and must be limited in the diet. Splenda, besides having a slight laxative effect, is better for you than any other sweetener made.

Who knows, one week it does, and another week it doesn't. With all the problems with foods now, there's probably something wrong with the majority. You can't buy fresh produce anymore without concerns for E.Coli. I use Splenda, gave up Equal, and wouldn't touch SweetNLow. I suppose I'm taking my chances, but as I said, if it isn't Splenda, it will be something else. I have cut down on my daily use of it though.

One time I read an article about how aspartame might be linked to cancer. But this is not a proven fact. Personally I just try to stay away from products containing aspartame, like splenda.

None of the above. Sucralose is a chemically altered (chlorinated) part of sugar. The amount of chlorine is less than most of us already get from processed drinking waters!
Aspartame (Nutrasweet) is a far more dangerous sweetener, which entire generations of kids were brought up on as a "healthy" alternative to sugar. Just wait, there's going to be loads of health issues as a result when all these kids get older. (Thankfully, my parents hated the taste of it, so I didn't get overexposed to it growing up!)
Studies have shown that excessive amounts of phenylananine in the body is linked to those issues... it's even worse than saccharin!
But yes, stick with natural sugar. These baby boomers have tinkered enough with our lives.
