My child went to a podiatrist for a small bump that looked like a bunion coming in and he ended up with a steel barrel implant to make an arch, lengthened achilles tendons, and pins in big toes to correct what he said was flatfeet and now my child's feet are all messed up with no arch still, a huge bunion, and his toes are crossed! 2nd opinion said he will need more surgery. I am pissed! Mom says I should get a lawyer but isn't it hard to prove anything against a doctor? My child had beautiful feet and now they looked totally deformed!

Flat feet could be resolved with "arch lifts" that slide into the shoe or custom made shoes. If your son was misdiagnosed and went through all that before any other options then yes you can get a lawyer, sue for malpractice, and have the doctor responsible for this pay for any new corrective surgery that your son needs. Unfortunalely if this is the case, then your son will be going through more surgeries to correct something that should not have been done in the first place. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Talk with your second and third opinion doctors. If they feel like your first doctor screwed up, they will be mad or disgusted. If they come about saying it was unavoidable, or was going to happen either way, I would not be as ready to sue, because to get a malpractice suit won, you will have to show negligence of the doctor. You will also need a lot of documentation about all the events to make your case solid, times and occurrences.
