I've been looking at things that have to do with remembering dreams and interperting them to see what they might mean But my "dream" is difficult to interpret. They started 4 years ago and the dreams would happen back to back and make a book like story. It finally ended a year ago and I still remember little parts of the dreams but it is very hard to remember earlier dreams. Should I try to interpret the parts of the whole story or dream or should I write down the whole thing and do it as a whole?

Write down any dreams you can remember in as much detail as you can remember as soon as you awaken, then when you have recurring dreams, you can compare them and look for patterns that may point to what the issue is. If these dreams lasted for 4 years, and ended last year, then whatever issue they were about has been resolved. When you go to interpret a dream you should write down the entire dream from beginning to end, and seek to interpret the entire dream, not just a symbol or two.
A dream is a story you tell yourself, about yourself. Some symbols are universal, others have their own meaning only for you. To try and interpret just a symbol or two doesn't really offer the whole picture, and regardless of what some dream dictionary writer says a symbol means, all of the symbols have multiple meanings, and that is only one opinion of a symbol's meaning. Regardless of what a symbol means, it needs to be looked at in the overall context of the dream, and how it is interacting with the other symbols in order to assess what concept or idea is being presented. Dream symbols are a kind of shorthand designed to convey an entire concept in a short space of time. Things that need to be considered when looking at a dream are things like the overall tone and theme of the dream, how you felt on awakening, and if the symbols may be interacting to present a pun designed to convey what the dream is about.

Hi there, soccer_gurl_1294,

Should I try to interpret the parts of the whole story or dream or should I write down the whole thing and do it as a whole?

You should remember whatever you can remember about it and write it down.

You should know what the "story" is about.

It should be interpreted per dream as dreams are representative of what you were feeling during the time of the dream.

when we dream back to back as you are it is often our higher self and spirit guides telling and guiding us as to how we should be reacting to behaving or changing things in our lives to make them better. our higher self is always working for our betterment and what is in our best interests.to me if this i like a never ending story with different scenes in it but it is linked to me it feels like they are trying to get you to do something , you need to work out what it is they are trying to get them to do. for instance just start to work out what it is you are getting from them ,the messages. write down as much as you can remember from the early ones and certainly have a notebook and pen/pencil handy next to bed so if you wake up you can jot down the main points of the dream and keep diary of the notes . and then ask here for answers to them. and you will piece together what it is that your higher self and inner guides are giving the messages they want you to have.
