Is it possible for a non Jewish family to adopt a Jewish child from an orphanage in Israel?

Does anybody know how this is handled in the USA or other countries?

Thanks in advance.

Good question.
I was unable to find the answer. Instead, I found score of information on Israeli families desparate to adopt, who turn to Brazil, Romania, and Russia.
It seems that in Israel there are too few abandoned babies, and too many families looking to adopt.

The Jewish laws - although actually more liberal in a way - are not different that laws in Muslim nations that will not allow a Muslim to be adopted by a non-Muslim without the call for the death of an official that might allow such an adoption.

Israel does not allow foreigners to adopt Israeli children - there is no issue in Israel in finding adoptive parents as exists in many countries that are known as "baby factories."

Good Luck!!!

According to this blog Israel dose not allow foreign nationals to adopt children out of the country. From sources I have read elsewhere I think it is because there are more perspective parents willing to adopt then available children. Then again I have seen orphanages in Israel so I do not know.

Hopefully someone else can give you more information.

The biggest problem in Canada is that in order to adopt one must be basically rich and meet certain criteria. So many couples find themselves going to China , Russia , Romania, Africa ect. It is fairly easy for international adoption, only a lawyer is needed. Cheers!

Although the adoption laws in the US are religion blind when it comes to adoption, but its taken case by case, if the child has known parents , those parents may request child be placed in similar faith, if not then any legally qualified prospected parent may bring up the child to their own faith.
