Beer Braise Ribs:

3 lbs. Country style Port ribs, or beef short ribs.
2 medium onions, sliced
1 can beer (12 oz can)
3 cups barbeque sauce. Bottled or homemade.

Brown ribs in a hot skilled. Just get a little color on them.
Put the ribs in an oven proof dish.
Put sliced onions over the ribs.
Pour beer over all.
Cover with a lid, or seal with alumimum foil.
Bake at 375 degrees for 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

Remove ribs from oven. Pour off all fat and liquid.
Pour sauce over the ribs and onions.
Bake until the ribs are very tender and sauce is thick.
About another hour.

These can be finished on the grill if you like. (last 30 minutes of cooking time.) We like them as is.

I make my own barbecue sauce.
Your favorite bottled sauce will work well. Really.

Hi Judy, Nothing special i use pork ribs they are the best and have more meat than beef. I love to BBQ my ribs. Some people boil there ribs for about 20 minutes and then BBQ them. They are suppose to cook faster that way and be a little more tender. Don't forget your favorite BBQ sauce.

I make these and they are always a hit, although I use jarred sauce.

In a bowl I mix about 2 tbsp. each salt, pepper, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, and chili powder. Then I rub this all over a rack of baby back ribs. Then I wrap it tightly in foil paper and bake on 300 for about 3 hours. Then I unwrap the foil, crank the heat up to 450 and begin to baste every 5 minutes with Sweet Baby Ray's Bbq sauce. For about 15 minutes per side until they get crispy on the outside.

BBQ Pork Ribs
ingredients
4 lbs. (approx) pork side ribs
1 bottle Your favorite BBQ sauce
1 Medium onion
Salt & pepper. perparation
Cut ribs into smaller chunks. Place on a cookie sheet lined with tin foil (helps with cleanup). Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper, then broil in the oven for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through. When they're brown and starting to crisp, place them in layers in the crock pot with sliced onion and BBQ sauce. Cook for 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high.

You can brown your ribs and fill the crock pot the night before and refrigerate overnight, then just throw it on in the morning. It doesn't get much easier than that!
