Well if you are over 18 you could always go to a dating site and find a guy to bring with you. That'll show him! ;-)

You will never know how you will be until you get there, so there is no right or wrong answe.
My perspective, which is not necessarily anyone else's, is that I go to a party to have fun. If I think the stress of seeing the ex is going to be worse than the fun I may have, I would stay home or find another place to go or something to do.

I think you should go and have a good time. Move on. Don't take the fun out of your life just because an ex is going to be there. Besides, you want to see your other friends too, right? You only live once.

If you go and know you are going to obsess about them, do not go. If you can go with the attitude that he isn't going to bother you and let your evening be ruined, then go. It is the attitude. Show others you can still have a good time without him. Since he left you for someone else, he wasn't the right guy for you. You will meet a guy who will respect you and treat you well. He will sweep you off your feet in no time at all. Best wishes to you.

I would go to this party, be strong and don't let him think that he is the be all and end all of your life. I have been in this position before and my ex was out with his new girlfriend and it killed me inside, but I just pretended that I did'nt care and made sure I stood near them and having a great time. Within two days he was at my door( I told him to get lost). They hate to think that you can have a life without them.

If you don't go to that party and stand there and be totally drop-dead gorgeous, I am going to be so mad at you.
Buy the best looking outfit you can find, spend the entire day getting ready, and walk into the party like you own the place.
Oh, and pretend you don't even notice the ex. LOL

Go right ahead. Just be mentally and emotionally prepared to see them but, do not allow them prevent you from having fun. Keep a smile on your face and socialize with as many friends as possible. If he sees that you are sad he will enjoy every minute of it. Make him wish he was still with this vibrant young lady that you are. AND HAVE FUN!!

It is a new year's eve party. Anyone can join. Why wouldnot go just for two people? Relax . Enjoy the party with ignoring them both. Ignoring them is the biggest punishment.

go and have a good time-- dont worry about him-- even though you may still have feelings for him he is not worth what you are worth if he is just going to leave you like that -- chances are they might break up and he will come back running to you -- really did u do anything wrong to not be able to go to this new years party?

I would rather I did not go, especially as you still have feelings for him.
Also going with another guy there to make him jealous is really a loss of your time.
Why still focus on him?
and..............
Why not start the new year with something fresh and new!:)
Something that will cheer you up and help you think positive of all the great possibilities 2008 might bring to you:)!
