Okay, seriously, anyone who doesn't get this is just so blind it's not even funny. It's getting bad out there. Come on look around. People have been and are becoming big A'holes, and everything is becoming hell on earth pretty much. I mean come on. If i Get even ONE responder that doesn't see this, I have to ask you, congradulations on your ignorance, but how can you ignore the world around you?
I'm upper middle class, and I still see these things, and my neighborhood is to die for. I'm not complaining about MY house, or YOUR house or where you live or where you work or your families, I'm complaining about the GENERAL PUBLIC, the roads, the quality of life, our value system.
It's basically, "anything goes, get the **** out of my way," mean, aggressive, materialistic, cruel, yadda yadda, and what's worse is,
people are LOVING it. The evil ones at least. It's become an evil-wins world, no soul required.
How can anyone with a "soul" deal with this and be happy?

Anyways, what do we do?
I just honestly chose to stop caring, and not pay it any attention. I decided that people were hopelessly lost, materialistic, fake, and don't care about anything but themselves and they're just too far gone.
It's all about your outsides. Your image, your appearance, your money, etc etc.
It's truly a fallen world today more so than it ever has been, and if you want to go on and say how technology, medicine, living conditions etc, are better, then you're missing the big picture.
You're basically saying oh, let it all go to hell, but as long as I can sit on my gold plated pooper and cure myself of cancer, then all is good.
WRONG.
Humanity is hopeless. Truly.

Well, a lot of what you're saying is really happening, but the world is a really big place with billions of different people. I see the rat race everyday, and the world is over competitive and rife with power struggles. Still, they are plenty of really nice and interesting people in the world. It's just that the nasty ones make such a big impression that they get a disproportionate amount of attention.
Some of us have adopted sort of a "be happy and enjoy life just to spite 'em" attitude. To a degree, if you let them get to you mentally, they win. If you can be yourself and have a good life, you win.

"Humanity is hopeless. Truly.".
I see you've already given in to the temptation of accepting the world for what it is and yet excluding yourself from that picture.
It is my belief that humanity is not hopeless, but that to even begin to shift the balance of the difficulties we face will take an entire lifetime to do.
Basically humankind is all going one way, and it's up to each individual person who realises this to have to stop, turn around, and push against everything that is being rammed down their throats.
That includes your message of 'Humanity is hopeless'.
Yes, i compared the difficulties of the world to a waterfall or a flood, but that makes things difficult - if you put up a barrier the water will just find another way.
You have to cut it off at the source, essentially - but that is something that will require patience and determination.
Something that many of the younger generation seem to be suffering a lack of.
But here's the good bit; The younger generation is still young, people can LEARN - we just have to make it so that the younger generation can learn what it wants instead of learning what other people want it to.
Which is what my personal belief system is ALL about.
I've noticed in the past how people's religions affect the way they deal with others in a societal nature, whilst the individual may not even be aware of how those effects can change the person they are talking to.
So therefore i follow a particular confuscism ideology.

Wow! You found a great way to deal with the problem. Giving up on humanity. How lovely. Let's just all sit in the comfort of our homes, wear blank face expressions and watch the world collapse. How inspiring.
Move your lazy bum and do something about it. Nobody expects you to bring the World Peace (which will NEVER happen by the way), but be the change you want to see in others.
The easiest thing to do is give up. I'm not going to join you. You want to fall - feel free to, but don't expect anyone else to follow your flawed logics.

yeah i agree with you. things are really bad out there. but i feel like every generation has had some sort of problem, today is only different from 100 years ago in accessibility of violence. i dont really buy into the whole "see violence on TV and in video games, become a criminal" line of thinking, but perhaps i'm wrong, maybe theres some truth in that.
i just feel like we can't lose hope and just ignore it all. if we see some bad transgression happening, i feel like its our responsibility to talk to the perpetrator in a kind way and try to set them straight. Maybe it won't work 9 times out of 10, but that one time it does will make all the difference in the world. One little step at a time, and maybe we can change things for the better.
Of course, that won't change the situations with terrorism or anything like that. Its sad to say, but the Middle East is as hopeless as ever. A few bad seeds have ruined an entire section of our world, and its very sad for those Muslims who live there peacefully, but what can we do about it? Its a good thing that we're over in Iraq, trying to make a difference. But will we ever be able to change things there? I doubt it.

I'm more optimistic than that. Also, I find that people who complain are often railing against what they hate in themselves. Perhaps you're apathy is part of the problem.
Personally, I find that most people I meet are friendly and generous. Perhaps we're looking at the same people in different ways.
There are some things that need to be fixed. I think there is a great disillusionment in society. Much of that comes from government. For example, there has been a lot of fear mongering by the president, which makes people feel down about themselves. As such, people tend to care less about their environment. Yes, I also hate when I see fast food wrappers blowing by in the wind. However, I think that is just the minority.
The solution, as always, is to make society more inclusive than divisive. You mention your class level, and that has a lot to do with it. People who are in a lower class level feel disconnected from society. People in higher class levels are feeling more defensive about their turf, and care less about those outside of it. In order to solve this, we have to have less defined class levels. Currently, the Republicans are doing their best to remove the middle class, and that would be a tragedy.
Still, I don't think it's hopeless.

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."
Plato/Socrates - somewhere around 400BC
The state that today's society is in is relative to today's society. Overall it's no better or worse than any other time.
Don't get angry about it - by doing that you're merely adding your badness to the rest. Instead, think what YOU could do to brighten up YOUR corner of the world - do something nice for someone, smile at everyone you meet and bid them good day - you might just be the only person who does that to them that one day - it could literally save their life, who knows?
I could think of loads of sayings but maybe these will suffice:
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
Better to light a candle than to sit and curse the darkness.
Peace :-)

You are right .......the world is becoming a very mean and ugly place. The people you are speaking of are also very hardened to hearing about the gospel of Jesus Christ because they believe they don't need him and it appears they do not. That's why unfortunately disasters will have to be allowed to happen in order to get people's attention.
Song Title: This Means War!
Album:
By Petra: A song about Satan
Son of the Morning, highest of all
You had so much going, till you took the fall
Had a place in the Glory, but you wanted it all
Impossible odds, but you had the gaul
It seemed so unlikely that you would rebel
Such a worthy opponent that you knew so well
But you ended up fighting when you heard the bell
Took a third of all heaven when you went to hell
(chorus)
This means war! And the battle's still raging
War! And the both sides are waging
The Victor is sure, and the victory's secure
But 'til judgment we all must endure
This means war!
Then came the cross; you thought you had won
You thought you had conqured God's only Son
"So much for Jesus!" you said in jest
Then you got a visit from an unwelcomed guest
(chorus)
Now it's all over, down to the wire
Counting the days to your own lake of fire
But you'll go down fighting for all that you're worth
To try to abolish His image on Earth
(chorus)
(This is the war that we've already won
Victory is ours through God's only Son)

That is quite a jaded view of the situation. But I see the glass as half full: people do work from time to time to help others. Recent floods in my area wiped out hundreds of people; assistance for them came from all over, and was both broad and deep. All of this will be facilitated when we realize that there is no god on which anyone can rely -- we can, and must, do everything ourselves. and we need share the credit with no one or nothing when we succeed in doing so.

I don't disagree with you, but from what I've read of history, it was always this way.
I don't blame you at all for withdrawing from society, but think -- every bit of love and goodness we can contribute adds up. If all the love in the world together is not enough to cure it, at least it can slow the world's descent into madness.
