There for a while I was getting back in the groove of going to church regulary and I really enjoyed it and was good at getting loved ones to go with me but now I'm finding it harder and harder to just motivate myself to go I go through a million excuses in my head about people at my church not liking me, etc all that stuff but how do I get myself motivated to go and stay that way?

I don't want to find excuses not to go they just are in my mind and makes it harder for me to enjoy it.

I do agree that I need to be God motivated but I also need a little self motivation just to go and be more sociable.

No actually I used to be the one to get my mom to go to church and I'm engaged so it has nothing to do with that its just the fact I know that I should be going and yet I make all these excuses and everything. As long as I'm stagnate when I'm in worship nothing I think will change I'd like to get involved in something but I've tried it before and things didn't change much I just wish I had friends at the church I've went to for 10 years I had a friend there we were close he joined the army and he won't respond to me any more for like the past year when I've tried to get ahold of him I just can't figure out what to do to change, to get God motivated and self motivated and really really be in that place I need to be

You go... you get involved... if you are involved and genuinly interested in participating you will want to go... there is a lot more to being part of a church family than just showning up on Sunday morning.

Wow! I have been asking my self that same question! After being raise in a christain home with parents that were very involve in church activities I slowly got away from regular church attendance partly because my children (who I took to church every sunday )are now grown and partly because over the years I got distracted by life (divorce etc.) But you know an amazing thing happened..after giving all my struggles to God (and NO I am NOT a "holy roller" "bible thumper") He seems to have at least answered my question of when and where and if I should get back to church because I just moved into a much more affordable cute home that is only 4 blocks (walking distance) from the church that me and my kids used to attend..So I can't use the excuse that I don't have a car to get to church anymore!! LOL,,, perhaps try going to another church in your area that makes you feel a little more comfortable or if you are a young person try to find one that has a more modern service that speaks more to the younger people. My sister got her teenage sons to go with her to a church that has services geared toward the teenager and the boys actually enjoy and look forward to participating. (also don't forget to ask God to show you His will... you might be surprised how things turn out.. I was..) After being raised with a christain upbringing I think that I had to get out of my sheltered life and experience real life to better understand and appreciate the message that the bible and my church were trying to get across.

You may need to find a different church, one where the teaching is so good that it feeds you and you get HUNGRY every week to go and hear more. Or where you really feel the love of Jesus in the people that attend.
It's hard to go to a new church, everyone likes to stay in their familiar rut, but sometimes we need to break out of that rut to find a better way.
Go "church shopping" for a few months. Attend a church for 3-4 Sundays in a row, then go to the next one... until you find the one where you are fed and see the love of Jesus expressed by others.
From your other questions, it seems to me that you are quite fed up with your Christian life and God is not REAL to you... you just go to perform, or try to get a certain FEELING.
Have you ever thought of going to church for the sake of SERVING GOD AND OTHERS, and not for what YOU can get out of it?

I think that your difficulty is that you want to become "self motivated" instead of God motivated. Read the Scriptures and let the Spirit of God speak to you so that your motivation comes from a desire to please God by obeying his commands and a healthy fear of the consequences of disobedience.

Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

is it you or the church - try to figure that out honestly.

If it's you and you like the church, just persist and let none of the little stuff creep in, especially if you are getting something from the sermons and people.
If it's the church (people there) find a place that sparks your light and keep going - with a renewed focus on God.

i get motivated to go to church every week because i go with a friend and it makes learning easyer. Its fun learning about God in a place that you wont feel unwelcomed.

find a motivator the get you to go to church such as taking your kids if you have any it would be a different experience if you already dont.

i could say that's generally the grins that lots of of my contacts supply me on a daily basis with their questions and solutions. There generally seems to be somebody around at right here who could make me smile with a query or an answer. It nevertheless feels great to be presented superb solutions, too....and that's perhaps a factor of motives why I save coming lower back....in spite of if that's lots greater to do with my contacts and their Q&A.

Why would u want to find excuses not to go to church? Some people yearn to go to church and yet they don't have chances due to the inaccessibility of the place or other reasons such as politics? Count your blessings that God gives you such great gift of spending time with Him.

Perhaps you should try the science museum instead dear.
I take the kids every month and everyone really enjoys it.
The best thing is that we learn a lot of things in the process...

Maybe you need a different church, or a good dose of the Holy Spirit.
