Willie, my 10 month old kitten keeps stealing the other cat's food. He goes as far as to rip it right from their mouths! I have 5 cats and the others are older and bigger than him. Should I intervene and put him up till the others eat or just let one of them eventually get tired of it and teach him a lesson? They all get plenty to eat and Willie will leave his food to run over and snatch somebody elses. Poor little Allie had a shrimp in her mouth and Willie just grabbed it out of her mouth!

It sounds like Willie is a little dominant. The cats will figure out who is boss among themselves. But if it is a problem feed Willie in a separate room. Also some stray cats hoard food seemingly because they are not sure where their next meal is coming from.

I agree with Amanda. your cat, Willie, is the dominant male cat in your house and the other cats are going to let him do whatever he wants. Disciplining him is not going to help this situation. The best solution is to feed the other cats separately from Willie. Perhaps you could try and close Willie off in another room while the other cats are eating. When they are finished, then let Willie out and let him have what he wants.

I would feed them separated for a while so your other cats can eat in peace. I had to for about a month. My little male cat would pick on my older females terrible. Finally after that month was up he integrated in and they can eat together now. The girls did teach him respect them. He would bite their tail, steal their toys, and jump on them. They did not hurt him but he doesn't do those things anymore and the eat together each day now without problems.

well i think you should make willie eat at the same time as the other cats but when you see him starting to take the other cats food just pull him away and keep and doing it until he get's board of trying and gives up

Kittens have no fear once comfortable in their environment. My kitten would jump on and bother my older cat when eating. I resolved this by putting my older cats food high up on the window shelf for a bit of peace.

Hello there,

the only way this is going to stop is that if you feed them in seperate rooms to make sure each cat gets their fair share. And your other cat doesnt snatch other cats food whilst he has his own. otherwise your other cat wont get any!

Hope this helps feel free to email me at any time,

kindest regards,
Amanda.

I would say keep him separated while the others eat. If you don't they could end up teaching him a lesson he won't soon forget! I hate cat fights! Good luck.

The one who is probably the most upset by this is the cat owner.
If it upsets you, feed them in separate rooms, otherwise, if they are all getting plenty to eat, let them sort it out themselves.

I think that its time you teach him a lesson. because he doesn't know any better, and he started off with such a hard life or you could just start feeding him separated.
