That is a boy who Jesus brought back to life, a la Lazarus, in an apocryphal early Christian text called the 'secret Book of Mark.' As far as anyone knows, there is no extant copy of this text; it is only referred to in a letter that an early Church leader wrote to someone else, complaining that the text was being misused by a sect of Christianity called the Carpocratians.

The Carpocratians gave this the same interpretation you obviously did, judging from your question.

The reason the text is apocryphal is because it mentions that, when Jesus brought this kid back to life, the kid looked on Jesus and 'loved' him, and Jesus allowed the kid to stay with him the rest of that night.

I think he probably did that just to make sure the kid didn't die again and probably also to talk him down and explain what had happened to him. I gather this kid was a lot younger than Lazarus when he died and a lot less able to understand things.

I personally think the kid was not right in the head. We never get told why he died or why the adults around him didn't insist that he wear clothing. It might be that the way he is described in the Garden of Gethsemane scene is simply a literary device to identify him to people reading the secret Book of Mark.

It's also possible that he simply felt so affected by what had happened to him that he continued to dress only in his burial shroud, to show others what Jesus had done. I'm not sure how much time passed between this kid's resurrection and the scene in Gethsemane.

All of the Apostles were fulled with the holy spirit when Jesus returned to them after his death. Because they were spirit fulled they knew far more then they ever knew and that allowed them to write things that they never knew about but also know that it is true account. There are other places int the Bible that are similar to this experience you wrote about and some that are harder to understand.. When one gets fulled with the holy spirit they can do everything that Jesus done. Just look at Revelation that book was written by man who was told what to write by the holy spirit.

What naked boy? I think your homosexual side is showing.. I have read the bible quite thoroughly, and have never read that! I should research material before I would post such nonsense.. Would you hope someone would say it was for Jesus to have a last homosexual engagement??Clearly, your question, warrants a rebuttal, certainly not an endorsement.. I mean this quite constructively, you should limit your questions as "from a homosexuals standpoint, or strictly from a homosexual perspective" then one would realize the view from which the question is coming from..It then at least would make some sense..If you seek sensationalism , show YOUR body naked on 'YOU TUBE'!! Seek counseling.. SOLOMON

Scholars hypothesize that the young boy was John Mark in whose gospel account that detail is found. When Judas and the soldiers and the priests came to arrest Jesus his disciples ran away as He had told them they would. Apparently John Mark was wearing only a robe or something that came off in the hands of one of the people who had come to arrest Jesus and he was more afraid of getting taken into custody with Jesus than he was about being seen running through the Judean hills without any clothes on.

Mark 14:26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 27 "You will all fall away," Jesus told them, "for it is written: "'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'...48 "Am I leading a rebellion," said Jesus, "that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled." 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled. 51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

At that time, alternative life style were common and almost unnoticed dear. Homophobia is a very recent mental disease.
You could be famous for your music hall type tricks and at the same time choose to live with 12 male friends without anyone thinking anything bad about it.
So Jesus was probably enjoying life with one of his friends...

He was wearing a linen garment. When they seized him, the garment came off in the struggle. In the NIV study Bible they say the man may have been John Mark the writer of the Book of Mark.

I'm amazed at the number of answerers who were completely unaware of this story. What on earth are they doing in the bible classes?

Some people believe that this may have Jesus' son, whom he told to run so that he wouldn't be discovered. Somehow he lost his cloths in the process.

This is what I think. I think that you're trying to imply that Jesus was doing something improper. I think you're being a boor and a jerk. JMO, of course.

I think you know the deal. Look at one of your answers. (Martin S)
