i've heard a lot on here by christains thats atheists don't believe in god because the devil, and i have heard a lot atheists will go to hell and that we have free will, but if the devil can courpt our minds surly we don't have free will, and why would they be sent to hell if the devil is why they don't believe in god.
if that was the case then surly a devout christian could be be forced not to believe by the devil, but then he wouldn't go to heaven for not believing even though it's not his fault, but at the same time how can this be if god has given us free will?
can someone explain this?

Great question. They can't explain it. The whole concept of devil is ridiculous and contradictory. There are some standard explanations you'll get. ''Devil is working for God and is only obeying his commands'' automatically means that God is not just and fair. ''Devil is the fallen angel who rebelled against God'' would imply that God has no power over devil. What kind of God is that?! There are also some who believe that the devil is an indepedant creature who tempts humans out of his own wickedness, but again that implies that God has no power him. Stupid really.

I'm glad you're thinking for yourself. Good luck! :)

I have a dear Friend that is very religious ( I respect that is her way), the sad thing that her church at the time (that she use to go to)wanted her husband to come along , if he didn't he was the devil, which caused many arguments and now they are divorced, I don't think there is a hell, some churches used that to get people "in". I don't believe churches should take 10% of your wages, they call it a donation, but it is expected (demanded). Lot of people want to take your free will, it is called control. What is wrong praying at home when you want too..It is other peoples different ideas of free wills not Gods. You know in your gut feeling what is right, devout christians can be wrong. For example you and I can read the same book but explain it differently. Have a great new year

Atheist's don't believe in heaven or hell. The whole thing is superstitions and passed down stories to control the ignorant. Of course the Christians who are always changing the rules to remove the guilt of there hypocritical life think we are devil worshipers

Well, I do not know what a lot of other Christians believe, but this is what my Bible says about it.

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

I do not read the devil anywhere in that passage. When we are judged on the last day we will only have ourselves to blame if we are judged unworthy.

On a side note, Christians have no business judging those who are not Christians. That job belongs to God. Paul wrote, "For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? (I Cor. 5:12). The without here is in reference to the church.

the devils best job is ti convince yothat he does not exist

There are pagans in high places

why does the vatican have an egyptian monolith dedicated to the worship of isis and horus

it''s bcause they worship isis and horus

So why are the vatican a bunch of devil worshippers?

If they were atheists in disguise why woyship the devil in secret?
This shows that they know there is a God, but they choose to turn their backs on him and do anything thy want under the devil

So if the very elite and elect are convinced there is a God
why aren't you?

and why don't you choose his method of salvation rather than every lost and found ancient philiosophy of man, none of which have laster for 4000 years like the bible,

I am more worried about the next hit by a massive meteorites than worrying about the devil or hell or what ever. God couldn't stop the last big hit that wiped out his dinosaurs, so do you think God will stop the next. Not likely.

Good question - you get a star

"can someone explain this?"

I doubt it because you are trying to think logically about something that has no logic. I bet the best they come up with is 'the devil is tricky' or 'God works in mysterious ways'...

....and of course the old 'Don't think - accept Jesus!"

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Ok, let's set one thing clear here:

We DO have free will, BUT-the devil is the most subtlke being ever created, & He will use ANY means to decieve you into doing His will, even if you DON'T believe in Him.

Yet, Jesus IS available, to all to DO seek Him, but YOU have to make the choice!
