It actually seems a bit sadistic to me. If you KNOW someone desperately needs a job, wants their child to get better, wants a wife etc why do they have to beg and beg to God before he does it?

It is like walking around in a famine struck refugee camp with a burger and then saying, OH did you want it, I didnt know...

I do believe in God but some things just do not make sense to me. I would like sincere answers from believers please.

Ok, how about this?
My wife and I are Christian and have had this quite nasty marriage. ( she's a little insane) I have prayed and prayed and prayed until I have no more tears and I have fallen asleep on the floor because I am so tired of praying.
We are now at the end of a long divorce and I can't count the number of times I have asked God - "Why did you put this woman in my life?!"
He answered me. He told me - "I put that woman in your life so you would COME to me!" I have seen my pride and how I was controlling and obstinate. When I came to the point of submitting myself (my life, my wife, my marriage) unto God's authority I found peace and contentment in my life even when in the midst of terrible, TERRIBLE persecution.
I came to see my wife with new eyes even when she would be standing there screaming at me.
I came to see my wife as God sees me as I scream at Him through my sin. God still loves me unconditionally - what am I called to do for my wife?
I cannot stop this divorce (and I've tried) and through it all, I love her more today than the day we were married.
My prayers (what I wanted!) were not answered (change my wife), but what God gave me instead is more precious that silver and gold. God showed me how to LOVE!
My wife is not changed. I am.

You are absolutely right. People who really believe in God will have the belief that He knows his or her needs and will provide. People who do not really believe in God just join some groups and do as they are told.

First of all, we don't just pray when we need something, dear one.

What is the point of you talking with YOUR children, when you already know what they need? It's because you love them and want them to know it - probably every day or even several times a day.

Christians talk to our Father because we love Him and want to communicate with Him about everything in our lives. It's as simple as that.

God bless and Happy New Year!

Praying is more about a relationship than about a way to get things. My own prayers do naturally sometimes involve asking for things. But who knows? It might be that I am applying spiritual energy toward a goal to help bring it about -- in the same way that I apply mental and physical energy to accomplish things when I can.

There's no point to praying because no one's listening.

Prayer Does Not Work. Sorry.
Once again, it's all in your mind..

[Excerpt]

"In a long-awaited comprehensive scientific study on the effects of intercessory prayer on the health and recovery of 1,802 patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery in six different hospitals, prayers offered by strangers had no effect. In fact, contrary to common belief, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a higher rate of post-operative complications such as abnormal heart rhythms, possibly the result of anxiety caused by learning that they were being prayed for and thus their condition was more serious than anticipated."

God is not a vending machine. You do not insert three prayers and out comes your hearts desire.

The situations we face in life confront us because they each have a valuable understanding to teach us. Simplicity is not the best teacher so some of these situations are very difficult to say the least.

God does not interfere with this because God is more concerned with our long term spiritual growth than She is with our temporary discomfort.

To show your humility.
God help those who help them self but ask God to help them.
If you need a job ,after praying about it,you go and look for one, putting application and resume continually till you get one.
This apply es to all things in life.

We CHOOSE to pray to God, because we realize that EVERYTHING That we need DOES come from Him, & that WITHOUT Him, we have nothing!
