Right now I'm feeling very depressed and no matter what I do I can't seem to get my mind off of the fact that my life sucks.
Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to feel better and take my mind off of things? I have an appointment on Thursday with a psychiatrist so hopefully he can help me in some way, but I don't know what to do with myself in the meantime.

You allready did one of the best things you can do, that was to make an appointment with an psychiatrist. They can give you more help than anything. Until then, do get some fresh air, go for a walk and go pet a dog or cat. Do something special just for yourself. Good luck.

Get some sunshine in your life. Literally. It is one of the best defenses against depression. Look to the future and make some positive plans. You can control the situation you are in and if necessary make drastic changes to improve it. It does no good to stick your head in the sand and have self pity. There is an old saying: I was feeling sorry for myself because I didn't have any shoes until I met a person with no feet.

There are several things you can do. Seek out a friend to talk with & share your feelings. Start journaling your thoughts & feelings. Go do something for someone else...it'll keep you busy & help someone in return! Diet, sleep, & exercise are extremely important, so take special care of yourself. Most importantly, if you are having thoughts of self harm, get yourself to the nearest hospital immediately.

You should start by going for a walk. The fresh air will do you good. Call a friend and go out for coffee. Go watch a movie, a comedy preferably. If you are a religious person, pray and then go to church. But start by going for a nice little walk.

Try doing exercise and listening to some fast, upbeat music to get you motivated. During exercise, the body produces endorphens, which relieve stress and make you feel happy.
