Yes you can and with that size of tile I would recommend you use cement based floor tile adhesive. Wall tile adhesive won't be strong enough.

Sure, I have used floor tile on walls for a couple of redecorating projects and they both turned out great! am sure that 2ft tile will give a very unique look. I am sure it will look awesome in the end.

Yes, floor tiles are ok to put on the wall, but not the other way around.

You don't say what your tiles are made from, consider this industry guideline;
The maximum weight of tiling which can be supported by a dry, well-adhered plaster background is 20kg/m2, generally equivalent to ceramic tiles with a thickness of 8mm or natural stone tiles with a thickness of 7mm. When fixing directly to unskimmed paper-faced plasterboard surfaces the maximum permissible weight is increased to 32 kg/m2. These weights include adhesive and grout.
Hope it works for you.
Cheers David.

You can use floor tiles on the wall, I've done that before and it looked quite good.

Sure. They shouldn't get much traffic there so the weight load issue is gone. I would not recommend wall tile on the floor however.
Be sure to use cement backerboard or green board as a minimum.
