does it cost anything to go thru military legal aid for my husband to adopt my daughter from another marriage? I already know the process and all, just wandering around how much it would be.

JAG doesn't cost anything, but I am unsure if they would take a family law case like that in the first place. Contact your legal office on base.

The legal center will provide you better advice then I can, but I would be prepared to pay some kind of fee to the local county or who ever makes the final decision on adoption. The procedure is quite common and simple requiring paperwork and could be a slow process. Like anything else dealing with the the legal system, pay close attention to detail and follow their instructions.

Military legal aid through JAG if for the purpose of providing defense counsel to the enlisted person being charged.

Any legal activity out of that scope is not covered. You will have to hire a private lawyer to handle the case. It would be a different case if it was your husband being sued by his ex wife for custody, then the JAG would help him.

JAG cannot assist you with any civil matters. All they can do is steer you in the right direction, but they CANNOT represent you in a civilian court.
