i think it was a brain siezure
i hope to god the worlds doctors study these deaths, i really dont want to see anymore football players, who play for our entertainment and very often recieve abuse for doing so, die on the pitch. There has been so many similar deaths recently and hopefully the reason will be found out before it happens again to these entertaining athletes.

Phil O'Donnell suffered a devastating Brain Seizure during the match between Dundee United. He was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.

i am not quite sure exactly what caused this young mans demise-but as the brain does not move any great distance (it just "floats" inside the skull) it cannot "seize"-however the most common likelyhood is a subdural or cerebral haematoma (burst blood vessel) which can occur in anyone of any age and fitness level-the only consolation is that phil will in all likelyhood have known nothing about it-he would have just gone out like a light.
my deepest sympathy's lie with phil's family freinds colleagues and fans at motherwell fc.

i remember whilst Phill O'Donnell signed for Celtic, Partick Thistle had purely lost out to them for the guy, i grow to be gutted. the 1st game he scored for Celtic grow to be whilst Simon Donnelly made his debut, against Thistle.! Phill O;Donnell and Simon Donnelly have been given 2 objectives each and each in a 4-0 win for Celtic at Firhill. I remember observing O'Donnell ripping our midfield aside, each and every time he ran at us it grow to be like establishing a tin of beans, he grow to be absolutly spectacular. i grow to be unhappy to be sure his profession no longer probably blast off down in England, as quickly as I heard he grow to be up for coming back to Scotland i used to be hoping to hell Thistle could attempt for him. no longer purely have Motherwell lost an outstanding captain, yet i think of Scottish soccer has lost a participant who rather did shine for his facet, an entire engine in his midfield and that's not in many cases that there is definitely one of those participant interior the SPL who isn't area of the old corporation. that's been an incredibly unhappy day for Scottish soccer yet heaven knows what his kinfolk are dealing with. all we al can do is prefer them the acceptable and supply our actual condolences

there will be a post mortem. 'brain seizure' is not a term i've come across before but for a sudden collapse and death in a fit and relatively young man i would be suspecting a massive cerebro-vascular accident. i.e. either a blood clot in the brain or a burst blood vessel in the brain. probably the latter.
it's a tragedy for the man's family and friends but these things do happen.

Post Mortem (autopsy) being done on Phil to ascertain cause of death.
MUNCHKIN: You're apologising which I suppose is fair enough. But you should have realised by the very nature of the question that SOMETHING was very wrong!
