...are guilty of fornication? Fornication is the norm if we believe the statistics, yet lunatic groups like Westboro Baptist, Focus on the Family, etc., make absurd claims about how god has forsaken the US because we don't stone homosexuals to death as the Bile commands.

What's up with the gay obsession?

Sodomy is an insidious sin that destroys the body and causes harm to the soul, harm that only Jesus can repair.

Any type of punishment or judgement that is Old Testament unique - as in stoning, etc. - is totally UNchristian. Ask a Christian when the last time was that they actually read their Bible, instead of being spoon-fed the lies and trash that most TV and similar preachers utter. Much of what is called "preaching" is totally unScriptural and is all about mind control, power and money. Just follow the money and the answer is self-evident. Jesus hung out with prostitutes, homosexuals, the poor, the loathsome diseased - in other words all the totally undesirables of His day. Anyone who preaches that these people (or any race or class of human) should be killed, is the worst kind of bigot and despot. Hitler would take a back seat to many of the so-called "christian" preachers who flood the airwaves of North America. Racial cleansing in emerging countries is just another form of what these phony preachers expound.

As for the gay obsession - that's an easy one. Many of these men are either homosexuals themselves, or they employ gay men and women and have learned of it after the fact, or these preachers fear those hidden lusts within themselves. Denouncing gay people and promoting hate and violence toward them is an outward expression of inner hatred of oneself and one's deeply rooted insecurities.

Did you ever notice the most "way out in left field" pastors are the ones who are on TV? I think it's sort of like watching a sports game, when the cameras show the audience, they usually seem to show the overweight, shirtless guy with a colored wig and body paint. I believe the same thing happens with these pastors. And although I agree with Westboro Baptist having a un-Godly attitude towards homosexuality, Focus on the Family is very sensitive to things like homosexuality. In fact, they have a ministry called "Love One Out" that is available for people caught up in homosexuality. They would NEVER demand stoning for punishment. lol. Anyone who understands the bible knows God took all of the demands of death for sin and put them on his Son, Jesus.

Well, the church or the Bible rather, has many absurd laws and instructions.
MANY of them are not followed by 'true', 'faithful' and 'insert whatever adjective any christians want to call themselves' Christians sooo...they focus on things that are not that all relevant but still is in the Bible sooo...it's like what politicians do. BRING GOOD PR!

xD!

Anyways, I'm just saying that if you are to follow everything in the Bible then you must live like a hermit and even though you live as a hermit you still can't really follow ALL of the instruction because you'll die before you fulfill ALL of them.

So yeah, Good luck.

Many in the church are guilty of great sin. This is why they must be tried to prove thier faith, along with the rest of humanity. They look to the clouds and expect the "rapture" to whisk them away before the time of Trials and Tribulations. What they don't understand is that God has given no one a Free Pass and the Rapture is non - existant.

My personal opinion is this. They almost (without the violence part) are exactly the same as the Islmaic Extremists. They feel that there is no other way than their own.

I feel it is seriously sad that what they do is the only way to preach "their word." I for one am not gay/lesbian. But I would not wish harm nor give up the chance to be a friend of one either.

I have been taught to love thy neighbor, apparently they didn't read that part.

I wonder if they'll be drinking the Kool Aid next????

It's just one of the few ignorant and biased beliefs these radicals can cling to nowadays. I guarantee you that back in the day they were probably spouting off similar crap about inter-racial marriage and desegregation. They use whatever word some guy wrote back in the bronze age that was merely his own opinion projected as being the word of God. Eventually science will conquer this issue and the bigots will give up the notion that being homosexual is a choice.

Westboro Baptist is on its own wacko list.

I have never heard one Christian claim that homosexuals need to be stoned as the Bible does NOT say that anywhere.

Strange how fundamentalism is associated with Islamic holy war when in fact all religions are basically fundamental- not so long ago - after the religious freedom of ancient Greece- YOU either converted and worshipped "OUR GOD" or you would be either executed or banished.

Well because they were raised in homes that treated sex as something dirty and shameful that needed to be controlled. They grew up linking sex, shame, and control in their minds at a very deep level. They think their own sexuality is something that has to be repressed and controlled, and it drives them bonkers to see that other people are not doing that. So they see it as normal to try to 'help' people to see things the way they do.

However, repressing your sexuality doesn't work, which is why so many of them have been caught doing the very things they claim are evil.
