If you don't believe in God, how could He do anything - let alone kill thousands of people?!?
As an atheist, you really should not concern yourself with trying to understand these weighty spiritual matters. They are beyond your intellectual capacity.
Suffice it to say for now that God did create a perfect world where bad things never happen to good people - and you in your infinite wisdom, have already rejected it.

I have a little problem with your question. You claim to be an artiest, yet blame God with the tsunami. A lot of what goes on in church and in the name of Christianity doesn't make sense today, but the Bible is true and God is truth. The Bible answers questions such as where this all comes from that science can not. The Bible guides life better than all the psychologists ever can. Why people die? We are born to die and we don't know when. The central question is what you do with God and Jesus during your life. There are many confusing facts along the way.

Have you ever heard that guns don't kill people, people kill people?
God didn't kill those people - a tsunami killed those people. Where did you come up with God "creating" The Tsunami?
Personally, I believe that God created everything. But, He is not going to indiscriminately kill and destroy for the sake of pleasure. He wants "none to perish". God did not just give you free-will, he gave nature free-will also.
How about a very dear cop friend of mine (and a huge Christian) was going to another officer's funeral and this friend of mine was driving through the cemetery in his squad car (with about 150 more squads) and this tree just fell on his car and killed him. Really!
This was not by God's hand.
May I recommend that you find a Bible study to get involved with? You have the basic knowledge of God - let Him show you the Truth of his Word. Do not turn away at this young age. Do not follow in my footsteps. It was not pretty.

I am not a Christian, but I will answer your question.
The omnipotent being is Love. You and I and the 50 plus mph windstorm going on outside are Love's experience.
Have you actually read the Bible?
You should read a decent translation of the Quran, Torah and Talmud. The Book of Mormon wouldn't hurt either.
Or spell-check.
You need to understand the "endless war" that our leaders are for some reason afraid to be honest with us about.
It is nothing less than The Battle For Planet Earth.
You are constantly deciding what part you will be of Love's experience. The fact that you and I have been given the opportunity to participate and create is the solid evidence that Pure Love exists.
We are individually and collectively the tiny hairs on your arm or a taste bud of what people tend to call God.
Enjoy your Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness.

i've got been a Christian pretty much my finished existence and there are some issues i merely can no longer answer. I save a psychological checklist of issues i desire to ask God as quickly as I get to Heaven and the human suffering question is on the precise of the checklist. i understand that i opt to no longer blame God for nature failures or failures of any variety. ought to God have stopped the tsunami? of path. Why did no longer he? I have no theory. His procedures are no longer our procedures that's what makes Him God.

First of all, God created the world and it runs on its own. I don't believe God takes a personal hand in environmental events, necessarily.
Second, everything is life to God. Their is no "loss of life". Everyone continues to exist. It is really a matter of location and to whom they are present. As far as God is concerned, these people have merely become present to a wider group of people, those not visible on earth.
It is usually very difficult for people to see things with the same perspective as God. His vision is much broader than ours and we human beings are usually more worried about the things that impact on us personally and, therefore, our vision of world events is much smaller. In other words, if we look at things as they concern us, we may miss the big picture. Nonetheless, I am not making light of people's personal tragedies. These were truly tragic events for the people involved and we can share their personal grief, but in doing so we need not blame God.

lack of evidence?/ man can't even figure out what is taking place within our own bodies; the universe was here before us and works without any input from man; we are provided for and protected by ; God is like love, you can't see it , nor touch it; don't know how or why it got here; you know that love can fill your being ; you see gestures of love, a hug, a kiss, a kind act; the same with God, you see gestures of his love everywhere ; food, water, protection by the atmosphere, gravity, nature's pharmacy where most cures come from ; even our own bodies , you don't have to think to make your heart beat, or your liver purify and remove toxins etc ;you didn't even have any hand into your own creation; God doesn't cause bad to happen but promises to be there if it does; mankind has tainted God's world by excess and corruption ; God will explain all things in his time and not when man demands it ; he is God ; his plan has worked today; make room and he will find you; just look down at your own hands, unique down to your finger prints; you didn't happen by accidental failure but by design.

1. You were never a Christian. You may have actually thought so, but you were wrong then as you are now.
2. God did not create the tsunami-sin did. God created the earth, wind, water, and so on. Sin corrupted the natural order of things-earthquakes (and much more) are the results.

First of all, I dont believe you ever were a christian or else you wouldn't have become an athiest. You obviously never truly accepted Jesus as your savior. To answer your question, Im sure God has His reasons. Im sure He uses bad things for good. Why do you question God if you aren't even a christian? You obviously believe that He dosen't exist, but someday you will meet Him face to face to be judged. Good Luck with that!

An earthquake caused shockwaves in the ocean, producing the Tsunami.
It is called a natural disaster.
Those people were not killed by God, they were killed by a huge earthquake.
Nevertheless, a Muslim lady wrote a... poem?... that made international news - I'm not sure where you could find it - saying that she believed it was the judgement of Allah for the evils Muslim fundmentalists propagate in his name. (That was what she said, don't scream me down)
