Shane, calling the bible crap? Shame on you! Is that the type of Christianity you learned at the kingdom hall?

They actually use the same Bible, they just twist the words around to thier liking.

They didn't "edit" the Bible. That suggests removing parts from it. To my knowledge all they have done is produced a new translation, and I understand that it is a fairly accurate one, and the only real difference between that and any other translation is using God's name - Jehovah - in places where the Jewish establishment had replaced it with LORD.

I'm a Mormon, and I get fed up with people saying that we have our own Bible (we use the King James) and that we don't actually read it because we prefer the Book of Mormon. Not true! We read ALL the scriptures - Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price - in a four year cycle. The Bible reading takes two years, so the Bible actually takes precedence since we take twice as much time studying it as we do the Book of Mormon.

I think quite a few reasons. Their bible is a translation, which is suppose to be word for word. Unlike the King James, which is a version.

JW's have attempted to replace Gods Name Jehovah,( YHWH) in place of LORD, and titles related. Unlike the King James which older versions had Gods name Jehovah, they have now removed it totally. King James version has done this simply to support the trinity doctrine that goes back to the 3rd century Rome.

JW's bible is easier to read in a modern English, and by replacing LORD for Jehovah, the bible is more correct. Many do not agree, but then you have to look at what was going on in Rome in the 3rd century. Once you find out it is easy to agree with JW's because of fact,

The roman church, adopted many pagan beliefs into Christianity which is why many christian churches celebrate, christmas, easter, new years and so on.

They don't. If you do some research on the New World Translation you will see it is highly accurate.

Consider how the King James makes any sense today...IT DOESN'T!! How can someone read that crap and understand what they are reading?

EDIT: If you read what I wrote, and not put words in my mouth, you will see I was not calling the Bible crap...I called the King James Version crap because it's a crappy version.

That is an example of how people twist what JW's believe.

EDIT EDIT: stainless steven is lost in nobody land again...JW's never rode wagons out west! Double check your facts, you are talking about Mormons, not Jehovah's Witnesses.

People seem to think Jesus spoke King James.

When I was studying with the Witnesses I at first insisted on using nothing but the King James Version... then I started using several translations at one sitting and comparing it all. There is no real difference except the New World Translation uses modern day English and they have placed Jehovah God's name back into His book.

From what I have taken in thus far in my studies as a Witness, is that when I use my Bible bought in the store, it shows in the preface where GODS name has been removed and replaced with LORD in all caps, when referring to Jehovah.
When it is speaking of Jesus, it is rendered Lord. Lord and LORD are just titles such as President... We all have personal names, why was GODS edited out from other Bibles?
I am grateful to know GODS name... Even Satan is viewed as "a god".
I would feel lost to go through life not knowing who I was exercising my faith in...
I have used both Bibles and have not found any fault in the one I use from the Kingdom Hall...
Find yourself the oldest possible Bible, you will see GODS name for yourself, in Bibles not published by Witnesses... If that may help you to understand...

First off if we "edited" the bible it would be a version, we have a translation...It is and will always be an accurate translation. It is not for men to add ANYTHING to GOD'S BOOK.

It's a sad fact. They have made a mockery of the Greek language to fit the twist ideas. A professor of mine always said, "a text without a context is a pretext". Those who wrote their version of the Bible had a pretext when reading the Bible. Some people say, you can make the Bible say what ever you want it to say. True, if you don't want to read it in context. Read the paper as a newspaper. Read a novel as a novel. Read the Bible as God's message to mankind and you won't change the meaning he has for us!

Did you copy this from somewhere and didn't read through before posting?
Please tell me you did..... no one in their right state of mind would call ANY translation an "edit".

Can you please show me the first century scrolls you use at your church? Yes, the ones written in Hebrew and Greek.

No? You use A BOOK in ENGLISH??? Not a SCROLL in HEBREW???

You "edited" the Holy Scriptures too!!!

My brother is a Jehovahs Witness, so I could probably ask him and get the brainwashing answer they gave him, but the way I understand it, the JW's Watchtower believes they are the only venue is which God communicates today. When's God's word doesn't match their theology, they change it and convince everyone the old way was wrong.

I'll stick with my Bible.
