I just want to know if anyone thinks this is plain stupid or if there is any logic behind it, my guy friend said "I will hit a woman cause if I don't then I am being sexist" I did laugh cause it was stupid in my eyes, but he does have a messed up point. what do you think of it I am a girl and I am not ok with abuse male to male or male to female... do you think it is sortof humorus or not?

ok he would never do anything to hit anyone he was just being a dumb a$$ he is smart and comes up with stuff to make people think in a diffrent way i guess he wouldnot hurt a fly let alone touch a woman-I know cause I was married to him for 8 years and he never once hurt me physically-we divorced for other reasons

Trust me if he was an abuser I wouldn't talk to him-he actually got me out of an abuse situation before we married

Generally, women are smaller than men and men's muscles develop differently to women's, so even though I don't agree with women using physical violence either, the fact is a woman punching a man and a man punching a woman are rarely 'equal force'.

That's just a fact of nature for *most* people, bar a few exceptions where there are very strong women or extra weak men.

So, while I see what he is saying ~ I still think his point is not correct.

In the first place, why all the emphasis on hitting someone? That's a red flag right there.

In the second place, if you punch a wall as hard as you can, and then he does, you can see how 'equal' it is, unless you're a bodybuilder or something.

It's not always easy not to laugh when something seems ridiculous, but that doesn't mean you have to go on agreeing with it forever.

I think what is happening is that it sounded kinda weird when he said it, but on thinking about it, you've arrived at a different conclusion.

Good on you for thinking such a subject through.

I am female & have had the same thought. As long as it's all theretical, it makes perfect sense & is kinda funny. (Equal = Equal, not Mostly Equal. If we want to be equals, gotta take the good & the bad.)
I'm against violence in general, but frankly it's messed up that "Bobby" would get into more trouble for hitting "Suzy" then for hitting "Little Billy," even if "Suzy" hit him first & "Little Billy" is younger then him.

If I understand what you're saying correctly, it's not so much that he would hit a woman, but that he would not not hit a person just because of their sex. There is a difference there (small & philosophical maybe, but its there.) I would hope he'ld still take size into account (regardless of sex.) A key exception I would make the not not hitting thing is pregnancy. Remember, then you're not just hitting one, but two (at least) & I would count that as hitting a baby. (Would he hit a guy holding an newborn?)

I repeat, I am against hitting at all, but theretically if Joesmoe is hitting anyone, their sex shouldn't make a difference in "how wrong" it is.
(Ok, did I make any sense at all?)

Your friend is messed up. There is no reason to go around hitting people of either gender. It's not funny. It's sad, terribly sad. You really should not hang out with anyone who thinks that male to male or female to female abuse is OK either.

It isn't humorous, he's an idiot. If he doesn't want to be a sexist than I suppose he is all for scrubbing floors, washing dishes, and doing the cooking, because if he isn't, then he is still being sexist. He needs to look at it from both sides. Anyone who is into hitting isn't worth your time of day.

On the other hand, abuse against men is equally not funny and also a crime.....and it does happen! in todays equal world it is his way of suggesting that he is superior in strength and physical abilities.
Ask him if he would hit a disabled person,either male or female !

What? People shouldn't hit other people anyway and personally i think any man who hits a woman for his own self gratification (making himself feel important or dominering)should be stoned to death. (Unless she's into that sort of thing, then you should really use a safety word sohe knows when to stop.)

PC madness, is your guy friend suggesting that if i hit a guy, i have to hit a woman to even it out? That's like if i hit a black man for insulting my family. I didn't care about his skin colour i hit him for what he said.
