I believe that the US does realize that Pakistan is a terrorist hub. They also realize that Syria, Iran, and our good "friend" Saudi Arabia are also terrorist hubs. But what to do about it is the problem.
Pakistan is a Nuclear power, Iran has a huge military, and we depend on Saudi Arabia for Oil. Syria could be in trouble in the near future.

It is not a hub for terrorist activity; it is one of many locations in the region. The Saudis are the ones who pump millions into the region and around the world with their Wahhabi version of Islam. They are the ones who insist all recipients of their cash teach religion in a strict form. The Islamic “world” is the hub of terror activity as long as the people of those nations are held back by a lack of academic education, government corruption, absolute monarchies and a long list of other problems. It is not just one country, it is a whole region, a way of life, a culture and it is all driven by a religious indoctrination which prevents the everyday citizen from learning about other people and societies. They believe their way is the only way and everyone else must submit to their way of thinking. Also, most of the countries where you see problems still rely on tribal leadership and influence for problem solving. For them democracy is not a solution, it is the problem. They can not understand it, it is foreign to them. They are slow to develop because of their governments’ lack of providing adequate attention, care and education. These problems will not go away as long as they only eat dates, drink tea and talk. They need to take action, not talk; it is up to them to fix their own problems because we fail to understand problems which are unique to them. Don’t expect too much forward progress in your lifetime.

this is the place dissimilar the human beings and aims are placed. The south has a decrease inhabitants density, and much less aims of international importance which would be rather infiltrated. The midwest is extremely rural, and the wwestern US is far to massive to maintain an helpful terrorist presence, besides as having area as a protective intensity around those aims. Why do human beings rob banks? given this is the place the funds is. Why do terrorists attack the northeast? this is the place the human beings and aims are.

I don't think that is in dispute, however they are at a point where they could become less so, and we're trying to utilize diplomacy to push them over the edge to democracy. I have no doubt if the elections go the wrong way you will see some action taking place one way or another.

I think the question should be why can't Bush realize this--------it is all his doings. He recently made a statement that was so stupid. He said he would listen to all intelligence reports, and then do what he wanted to do. He never listens to anyone. He is the worst president ever!!
