Even though it is on a major news orgs site it is so outragous I find it hard to beleive it is an actual story.
How can they arrest him for showing privates while not in private when their own UC officer was doing the same. Plus she asked him to commit the act, It doesnt matter if topless sunbathing is legal is not the law enforcement community has more stringent guidlines for things like this. Much like law enforcement can not steal evidence and use it in court but a private citizen can steal evidence and give it to the police to be used as long as the police did not aks for it to be done or give any help in doing so.
I cant even imagine that they would ask or could find a female officer to go along with this kind of sting.
If it is a true story then yes it is entrapment under legal definition

YES AND THEN NO?
under "entrapment" we also have what the police and the courts have defined as
"Encouragement--a police technique whereby an officer or law enforcement agent acts as a willing victim, intends by his action to encourage the suspect(a "target") to commit a crime, communicates this encouragement to the suspect, and thereby influences the commission of a crime."
Therefore encouragement as such is not an improper law enforcement technique, but; when extended to far--"when the criminal design originates with the officials of the government, and they implant in the mind of an innocent person the deposition to commit the alleged offense and induce it's commission in order that they may prosecute" --the government's tactics do constitute "entrapment."
so based upon the above i will sustain from comment and let the courts weed it all out.

That is definitely entrapment. If as the article states the undercover officer asked to him to take out his package, that would be entrapment.
Moreover, I think the officer crossed the line by flirting with him as much as she did. It seems as if the officer led him on by putting her feet on him and waiting until he felt comfortable to ask him to see his Wang.
Had they been sitting in the park and thee guy pulled out his Wang and started spanking it then that would be a totally different story. By definition, entrapment is getting someone to do something they wouldn't do under normal circumstances.
I don't know how many men wouldn't have exposed their Wang's if a woman they were talking to asked them too. Is it a bad idea, obviously, but it shouldn't be illegal.
I think there is a world of difference between showing a woman your Wang and committing a more serious crime.

I do not believe it is reasonable or entrapment. Entrapment would imply that they enticed an otherwise unwilling person to break the law. These men whipped out their junk simply because she asked, that doesn't really met the legal definition of entrapment.
However, I do feel it is a waste of time and police resources. Who really cares if a guy exposes himself to half naked *willing* woman in the park? Creepy? Oh yes. But I think there is a difference between a guy who will masturbate in the park just to be creepy, and a guy that will pull out his piece when a hot topless chick asks him. Now...if some's laying their topless and a guy just comes up and attempts to assault her or whips it out without first talking with her...then I feel he needs to be arrested. But the guy in the article? No.
Columbus needs to find something better to target.

I can't believe the cops in Columbus have nothing
better to do with their time.
While these cops were jerking around in the park, you can
be sure there were victims of REAL crimes that could have
been prevented if the columbus police were doing their jobs.

it is entrapment because she ASKED to see his penis. she is the one that caused him (gave him the avenue, idea etc) to commit a crime. what she was doing was legal (sunbathing topless). so if they wanted to arrest people for coming up and masturbating in front of her etc., that would be fine. but to ASK the guy to show his penis IS entrapment.
I would be all for doing this if women were being harassed for legally sunbathing here. but they shouldn't ASK the person to continue the harassment, they should only arrest those that break the law on their own. (and what kind of sick city LETS people sunbath topless in a public park?)
